I'm sure the route could be improved upon, and dirt roads added. I spent about 15 min on it.

I came back the same way. Might have been smarter to haul ass back up the interstate, but I have never been accused of being a genius.
Actually the genius part is figgerin out ways to NOT use the Interstate PARKway system while still headin in the general direction of where ya wanna be later.

I kinda thought you might hit 85,1129 & 636...just wasn't sure which others.

When I got home I forced myself to drink a quart of water before I downed two beers and two gin & tonics. My wife walked the dogs and pcked us up dinner and I fell asleep in a chair at 8PM.

I won't do that again. The guys who've lit out for Ruidoso have the right idea.

I put together a route at the last minute on some FM roads east of I45 using Google Maps and Roads of Texas. Turned out to be a really nice ride. Some ups & downs, nice curves, a couple of gravel county roads. Didn't see a single BBQ joint. Obviously not the hill country.
One more reason I like the campouts Crazy Bob has put together. Drink, eat, have fun, but more importantly, my 250 mile ride home was much nicer in the morning than in the heat of the afternoon.

As it was, I was feeling the heat by the time I got to San Antonio. Cooling vest, and no windshield, I still just came inside, and took a nap.

Left the Harley dealership around 1pm to make an Urban Assault ride near Lake Travis. Then turned east to check out some roads for future HOG rides. On the way we stopped at a remote shop to check on a friend's custom chopper build. That's where we saw THIS:

Figured some of you more seasoned riders would know what it is. First one I've seen in real life.

It is a 1930's bike with possible military heritage.
Not a Harley.

Anyone else wanna guess?

There seem to be a crap load of 1930's BMW R bikes but I'm going with the R6 based on the heads.

EDIT: Wait! I'm having second thoughts. The exhaust and frame look more like the 1935 R12.

It was Dahweed. That's where the deer took out our group. He is trying to wipe out their habitat.

That should be criminal negligence.

That's clearly a Russian version of the BMW military bike. Based on my understanding of Russian technology and styling , I'd guess circa 2002-2003.

Sorry my friend. It's from 1936. I'll leave country of origin open for now.
