Good to be back in the saddle. Rode to work this morning and bike ran damn good and mileage is back to almost 40mpg instead of the 23.6 I saw on the way back from Eola I did not feel as bad when SOG told me he was only getting 29....What did JD get besides a performance award?

I run just under 40. Unless I'm out with you and SOG. Then it's around 32-34. Still investigating that one.

Pretty sure SOGs bike gives off stealth turbulents that disrupt the aerodynamic properties of our bikes

BTW...could you send me those pics of my bike in Eola with the sleeping bag entangled..I want to use them

I went out and checked and my average mpg (as shown by the computer) is 31.7 for the Eola excursion and last Saturday's run. I get between 29-43 depending on my riding partners but usually 33-36. We must have had a head-wind. Both ways.

I'd bet you're always experiencing a strong head-wind on your scoot.

Our mpg was definitely low on Saturday. Wonder why?

I think it had something to do with "vectors".

I found out my Ducati is capable of pretty good gas mileage when I went on a group ride with a bunch of people from work on cruisers, and they weren't quite as much into gunning as I normally am, and didn't have nearly the top-end speed either.

Well, O.K.. Yeah, maybe that has something to do with it. I'll admit, I'm not the guy they want highlighted on the gas mileage or tire mileage commercials.

The knobby front cuts my mpg a little. That honking huge windscreen cuts it a little.

One of our riders told me after the ride that y'all might have thought one of two things:

1) He's just an ass-hat who owns a motorcycle (actual phrase)

2) He can ride that big pig better than you'd think he could, just by looking at him. (paraphrased)

I'd much rather it be the second one, but I can live with the first one, too.

We had fun. I rode sweep a lot at different points in the ride and watched everybody's line. Nobody ever put a foot wrong. Nobody ever got ragged. So why not get a little "pace-y"? That's just the way my brain works. lol

I would like to point out that whoever was leading, nobody ever really slowed the pace down. Hmmmmmmm. lol

Hope y'all come back or offer to show us your neck of the woods. We just like to ride.

There's always (D) All the above.

Have noticed I'm starting to go through tires a bit faster than when I rode with HOG.

Oh well, better "tire tester" than "helmet tester".

We have ridden the "Sisters" a few times and really enjoy the roads and the scenery but the roads in your area are lots of fun and a lot closer. We will definitely be back. Limitations are family time and "on call" 50% of the time otherwise we would be riding every weekend...

If ya come back on the smaller bikes and mr2mch is around to route you on some of his paved goat paths, I can tell you that you won't know your east from your west much less where you've been or where you are heading at any point in the ride. lol

That's so true with any of those guys. I just follow SOG, Mr2mch, Ghostrider, or Big Dave and I have no idea where I am. And then at a stop they'll be mentioning road numbers like "Did you see that cool old barn on 2743?" I have no idea or even care about the road numbers.

These guys are the perfect GPS's - They know all the good roads and they know where we're going. I just follow and enjoy.

Thanks guys!
