That would be tubed-Buell X1 2001 vintage. To replace the tubed-Buell I blew the hell up in about 2001. I figure that's about enough time for the memory to fade. Or as my good friend the doctor used to say "That is a piece of sheet."

So many bikes, so little cash, time and garage space.

Miles of Smiles on the Strom so far

I'm just ridin the $$$$ out of my only bike......
Knockin on 30K now & got done puttin on another rear tire today while the weather was nice. (We got off work for the holidays at 1:30) .......So the Shinko beat my pessimistic odds & lasted for 4500 miles. OK...Not too bad I guess, since the other high $$$ tires last about 5K. I am gonna try a BMW spec Trail Wing 152 V rated this time round. I think that the TWs end up lastin a bit longer at appx 6K so the slight diff in price between that & the Shinko 705 (which had a big price increase this year) might be money well spent for that xtra 1.5K or so. Time to ride some tomorrow......

& on a different note.....Larry....I hope for an answer to your wife's condition soon. My thoughts go out to ya'll.................

I appreciate the sentiments guys.

I'm getting antsy to get back on the big bike though. Hopefully I'll be able to make some time to fix it soon. I keep telling myself that once this is over I'm going on a long ride so I better get her fixed.

Larry, Sorry to here of your wife's unknown illness. Hopefully they'll figure it out and get her fixed again very soon. Will be keeping her in my prayers.

Mr2mch, good to hear from you. Maybe get to ride with you early next year.

Or a skunk one. Although I'm quite happy w/blue.

Keep thinking I need to add a more ADVier type bike, but don't know what. Or when I would ride it. Or where the funds would come from. Then sometimes I want an FJR type bike.

Bah, FZ1is my only mistress for the foreseeable future.

Ya kno Phil.... I think ya made a good decision when buyin that Fizzy.
Those things are amazin "do it all" bikes. Kinda like the Stroms but from the more streety side of the road. If you had an FJR....ya wouldn't be as flexible on the roads we end up draggin ya down..(course MacDaddy can prove this statement wrong !!! right Steve?) & that FZ can do 600-700 mile days almost as easy as the FJR can.
Just a few tweeks here & there can change the comfort factor appreciably. You've already got that bigger shield & a good seat. A set of lowers might be good on those long trips...then take em off for everyday use.
Put a Pirelli MT60 on the front of that thing & those gravel roads won't be as pucker inducing. Clark runs one on his Versys & can ride on some pretty dirty stuff. I've seen good write ups on those tires for years. They are super sticky on the pavement too. (but ya would prob want to run a more streety tire on the back to keep the mileage/wear factor in check). Sumthin like the Scorpion Sync. ...Or just run the Metz 880 in a 170/60 size. I ran that on my FJR & doubled the tire life over the stock sport touring tires.

Do you have another sleeping bag? I thought that was your last one. Maybe you can use an unfurled tent this time. Mix it up a little. ;)

This will be the 3th. I did the first, but was still recovering last year. I'll be in Big Bend on 1/1.
