To the rider who said he was cheating by taking the ferry a part of the way to Alaska, I have this to add. On our ride to Alaska and back one of our high-lites was taking the Alaska ferry to Haines. It is till over 8500 riding miles, dude, that is still a LONG ride in my book. You will love the ferry experience, we sure did.

My 2012 Alaska ferry schedule came last week. I was planning on a ferry trip, but then it looked like it was going to cost me nearly $1,700 from Whittier to Bellingham for the bike and me. I might have misread the schedule. That's when I decided to try and ride to Skagway and ferry from there.

FotoTex - 11:00 work for you? I need to be back to get my kids from school.

I have had a ball on the new bike this weekend. Really fun to ride. Tomorrow looks iffy weather-wise but if it is rideable I will likely be ought there for a while anyway.

I've learned a lot about how to ride this thing . It is an absolute miracle I am not typing this on a jail computer.

Boiled up on a careflight helichopper on 1238. One of my HD brothers blew a corner down in the bottom section. Broke some bones but was conscious. Of course to me that was a signal that both available troopers were right there. Hmmmm. lol

got started late today but headed north for a lunch at Clarke's Outpost in Tioga. After waiting with all the pirates for about 20 minutes got a table at 2:00. Had a delicious combo plate of sausage, pork ribs, slaw, p. salad and tea for a whopping $23 and change + tip. It was good but not $28 worth. (5 pork ribs size of my index finger and 10 thin slices of sausage) Saw some slices of pie that looked outrageous but prolly would of made lunch $40 Come-oonn Loco... Headed out west from there toward Forestburg, Grasslands and south through Bridgeport to the casa. No dirt. Couple hundred mile day, yes windy but good. Lots of standing water around from last weeks rain.

speaking of staying away from the law
pretty cool video:

stay for the credits..

Last I heard they were focusing on their house that had some fire damage. I've had a housefire, so I know a little about this mess. It's time consuming and a massive pain. We need to make a reservation their on opening day.

And yes that video is good. I assumed that one of the riders was SOG. And yes, watch the credits.

Loco is better these days. I was to young when when we were eating in the original Hammond's to give an accurate comparison between the Hammond's of then and today. Since they were bought out it seems to have stayed pretty constant but, and I may be romanticizing, it seems like the ribs were better back when THE Hammonds owned it. Those were also my first taste of ribs so I wouldn't really trust my memories accuracy past them being good eatin'.

I assume it was the original Hammond's anyway. It was 2 fires ago IIRC. That'd make the current Hammond's building the 3rd one I've eaten in I guess.

Some of you older and slower folks that still have memories of those days should chime in with a then and now comparison.

Golly, SOG, that is just the saddest pic I've seen in some time.

Gonna have to leave work early tonight so I can drink it out of my mind.
