Whatever you do, purchase gas frequently. New Mexico doesn't have gas stations at every street corner. And they close at night in the smaller towns. I almost ran out a coming into to Silver City because I thought for sure there would be a station in Hillsboro. I never found it.

I never found shit in Hillsboro!. SOG and savage had said there was a good place to eat there but the whole place was buttoned up when I rode through I would suggest fueling in Hatch for sure!

Uh-uh. Not me. Some wannabe slowoldguy maybe, but not the original slowoldguy. There is a great green chile burger place in Northern New Mexico but I can't remember where. Somewhere near Chama best I can recall. Left side of road heading north.

Rod. I stumbled on this weekend once on the way through.

Quote:
COMPETITION STRUCTURE:

Divisions/Classes:

Street Rod Division - 85mph, 90mph, 95mph

Touring Division - 100mph, 105mph, 110mph

Grand Touring Division - 115mph, 120mph, 125mph

Grand Sport Division - 130mph, 135mph, 140mph, 145mph, 150mph

Super Sport Division - 155mph, 160mph

Unlimited Division - Unlimited (180mph and up)
The first five divisions are conducted in rally like fashion – closest average speed to the class wins. In Unlimited it is the fastest down and back. Cars regularly compete at speeds well in excess of 200 mph.
Hmmm. Looks like we'd be in GT. If'n they'd let us play.

Schick's quest for the twisties

I don't know where you'll be in "LA" but you mustn't forget Angeles National Forest and Big Bear. Although the Pirates may be a little thick in the latter...

Oh. And be prepared to wave by gangs of leather-clad sport sport bike riders as they come up on you like you were driving your grandma's 66 Caprice Estate.

It was very good. And the ride after was great, except for the parts about me being concerned about pushing the 600+ pound motorcycle in the mountains after I ran out of gas. That stretch of 152 between Hillsburo and San Lorenzo is very nice!

I too am reducing the amount of meat and eliminating dairy from my diet, so I'd have to opt for something else on the menu. Chile peppers vary in spiciness by the species and weather. Hot dry weather is supposed to make the chile's spicier. Also cross pollination with a spicy species can influence the heat level. I think those were mild, but I like the spice.

I'm not sure you can hide well enough, but brace yourself for request for money or some other big announcement.

Used to ride Mulholland all the time. Watch out for the asswipe guys on 10 speeds in the middle of the lane, on a blind corner. Million roads in that area bicycle guys can ride on,that are great for bicycles and terrible for motorcycles, they pick the really good one for motorcycles and turn themselves into road hazards. Fun ride though, Rock Store is neat, get some dirty grub at Neptunes Net.
