Awesome weekend of riding. Only have this one picture of day one, after we made it to the hotel. 4 of us most of the day with Sasquatch meeting up for lunch and coming along for a little bit. (The not so awesome little bit, sorry man!) Got rained on a bunch, but it wasn't bad until the 20 mile stretch to the hotel, where it became a downpour, the dude we passed on the Harley with his girlfriend prolly won't get her to ride again for awhile. There was about and inch or more of water on the highway I would say, high adventure. Luckily for me I left my rain gear in my garage.

Ran into a father/son duo on KLR's at the hotel.

Day 2, Donnie and Schizz left for Mexico, SoG and I headed west to see how bad we could destroy his tire. Awesome roads...I could do this muddy dirt to twisty paved loop all day, and then all weekend and not get bored. Best riding I have seen in Texas, can't say enough about it...want to go back right now and keep exploring

Of course iPhone pics don't do it justice.

Name the rider of the tire on the right, who had the quote of: "we will just go back easy"...BRRRAAAAAPPPP!

Makes my tire look new, and it is through the wear bars....We got it back to my place and we spooned on that old first TKC I had on the 800GS....It is pretty much done too, but I'm sure he will use it for another 800 miles.

The totals for the weekend, really wanted to go do another 11 miles to round it off, but my tire is dead, oil is dead, I'm dead and recovering with beer

She is one month, one day old today and at 2932 miles . Love this bike.

The roads I enjoyed most were Welgehausen to Keese to Keese-Sagebiel (paved) Saturday evening and then gravel) Llano CR 410 to San Saba CR 310 to 346 to start Sunday morning. Breakfast at the Donut shop on the square in San Saba.

CR431 Jonesboro

Sandy Creek on 310

Caught cooling off on Althaus Davis

The Hooper Killer on Regency bridge

Water shot from bridge

Great color along road

Good one, Tom!

Donnie and I made Saltillo by 1730 taking the libre all the way. Actually led Donnie down a road he'd never ridden (57 libre through Cañada Ancha) which is quite an accomplishment given his riding experience here. Maybe a repeat tomorrow.

Some ruins on 57 libre.

Staying at Hacienda Morillo tonight. Neat old place.

And, of course.......

If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there.

Well, shady was like a kid in a candy store this weekend. New roads to go with his new bike. He said more than once (paraphrased), "I can't believe this is in Texas." Well, there's lots more down there but it was a good taste. Roads were in real good shape.

Like I said yesterday, 16 is better than it has ever been and 336 today? Also better than I have ever seen it. Now , the little dirt road across 335-336 has also changed. And not necessarily better. Brought in some of that ground asphalt-y mix for the uphills. Kinda changed the character but it was still nice.

Creeks and rivers were still flowing well. Very pretty. We rode 39 west to East today and it was gorgeous along the river, too. Till we hit traffic. Found a short-cut from Ingram up to 10 to avoid fuckin' Kerrville. What a traffic snarled little shit-hole that place has become.

I want to go back, too and I think the way to do it may be do mostly dirt and the stuff off the beaten path Sat and Sun and leave the Sisters, 16, 1340, and the other popular bits for Monday. Without exagerration, Shady and I had 336 to ourselves. It was a riot. Now part of that was likely due to the spotty rain but I think most of it was being a Monday.

So, let's go back soon. And to Arky-saw. And East Texas. And Hell. Anywhere.

Where are you heading? My wife has been bugging me for a ride and she is off tomorrow. Depending on how far, since I don't want to SoG my back tire. The UPS just guy, who should have my supply of oil filters today, just pump faked me by pulling up and sitting outside for 5 minutes before driving off...without dropping off a package .

My Mefo is back ordered, Lonestar doesn't stock anything useful in 18", TJ's has been busy all morning...

Going to go to the gym and try again. Long story short if I can find a tire and a filter maybe we can meet up with you guys

Sounds good. I have yet to make any kind of real plan...we're pretty flexible.
