KTM 690's Round The World

Guys,
Just a quick one to introduce ourselves - we are Andrew Don and Jon Boulton and on Monday 25th we will be leaving somerset England and riding around the world - we have called the trip JABA Mundus (Jon and Andrews Biking Adventure - Mundus is one of the Latin words for world.

Background

I (Andrew) decided that I wanted to do a big motorcycle trip and started planning it over a year ago (just after passing my test) - about a year ago Jon decided he wanted to come!

Route

As with anything this keeps changing as we learn more about the world and what is and isn't possible - on Monday though we are heading for;
France, Spain, Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Spain, Algeria, Tunisia, Sicily, Italy, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia H, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Georgia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Mongolia, Russia, Japan/skorea, Canada, USA, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chilie and Argentina - aiming to be in Buenos Aires for Christmas.

We are trying to ride off road as much as possible and we have picked smaller bikes to do so! If any one out there has any off road routes they could share in these countries that'd be great!!

We have a long way to go and a relatively short timescale but we will have time to see the sights and meet some of the locals!!

Bikes

We are going on KTM 690 enduros that have had the following mods and bits on them when we leave;
Mitas Army Front
Mitas E09 rear
Rally Raid adventure fairings, tanks, sumps with tanks, front sprocket guard, bar risers and clamps, tool tubes, rear filler adapter, injector tools and bolt upgrade, foam air filters
Side stand switch
Steering dampers
Tutoro Oilers
Engine Case shields
USB and cigarette chargers
Rebuilt suspension (my E is now an Rish and JB is running EXC fronts)
Symtech grip heaters
Exhausts -I'm Wings, JB is Akrapovic
LED blinkers
Racks and custom rear plates
Extra tail and braking lights
Dirt star sprockets and DID gold chain
And of course-comfier seats!

I think that's all of it!

We have given the bikes a full bearing, seal, clutch and filter service and they are feeling pretty good - especially with the suspension done by "on track racing"
We had some graphics sorted for the bikes and we are raising money for Cancer Research and Alzheimer's Society.

Admin
We are running 2 passports to get the eastern visas sorted and sent out to turkey and the other one is currently away with the Algerian embassy - hopefully back tomorrow!

Nav
We have a garmin Montana and a zumo(one on each bike wired in) and have the best mapping we could find - digital and otherwise for most of the countries.

Kit
We are traveling light and have a couple of magadan panniers and a rear kit bag each. Cameras etc in the tank bag.
We intend to camp as much as we can and have Msr hubba hubbas each along with the usual adornments

Hopefully this gives you an idea of what we are up to! Please find us on facebook as JABA Mundus and www.jabamundus.com

Will get onto the trip report when we are underway!

Just watched your intro video on your website. I think you at least know Ewan or someone in the movie biz.

We had a little help from a lady who is going to edit the raw footage! Unfortunately she only has Jon and I on the cameras!
I'm not sure that being likened to those two is a good thing! Thanks though.

I will be keenly interested in how the KTMs hold up around the world.

Here's some orange bike RRs for reference on the US to Argentina portion:
