Yeah, the red might be a bit too much....all the bodywork will eventually be done in straight-up white with a couple black Yamaha decals on the tank and the odd tuning forks here and there. I wouldn't mind black wheels either......some day.

Now we have seen it with the engine in its toned down the red somewhat, by the time you have all the other bits on it will look fine.

Thata engine look just like the one in the xt350 minus the kick start and with e-start.

Just curious as to one thing, the 350 engine has an external oil pipe to the head but yours does'nt but i see but i see a bolt where the pipe ataches to the head on the 350
does it have a internal passage?

Not sure why they routed it outside on the 350? Cooling? But you're right, very similar engines. I think the carbs are the same just with different jetting?









I've heard rumors (saw it on da interwebs) that the 350 barrel will bolt up to the 250 bottom end. Not going to try that anytime soon though



Speaking of carburetors ....I've been following the XT350 thread and the carb tuning woes there. Been there, done that on my 600, I finally got so fed up I bought a set of Keihin CR's What the hell was Yamaha thinking?

Well maybe the 350 barrel is to big for the internal passage that the 250 has
since the 350 is actualy an enlarged version of the 250 engine
that would make sense if the 250 head did'nt have the external oil input plug, but it appears to have it from your pics, cooling then ? maybe but beeing on the back of the engine would not give it much cooling.
Year the carbs are nasty but our euro versions have adjustable needles and seem a bit richer from stock and don't seem to run a bit better, so i'm guessing uping the size of all jet would improve things ... getting the jets is a different story....

well I recovered the seat today, not perfect but a hell of a lot better than it used to be




































It's not locked down so the gaps should improve once I get the hardware back on

Unless of course by "run" you mean how long before it goes down the road.....well that's going to be a little while yet. Still need to spoon on some tires, make some turn signal brackets, sort out a front brake, etc. etc. etc.
