If you think about it, unless he continues to fuck-up, this is about as bad as it gets for Woods. It would appear that all the bad news is out of the way. And Nike's still with him.

Of course, if he continues making mistakes in his private life, then maybe the financial picture will change. But I still think you're nuts if you think he can't live on his golf winnings alone.

To speculate a bit, Ken, do you suppose he's spent every dollar he's earned over the last decade? Or do you suppose he might have investments?

So, is reentering the public arena as a competitor and guaranteeing a life under unrelenting surveillance 24/7 by people whose sole motivation is to expose every detail of his behavior worth it? Is Jack Nicklaus's record worth it, assuming he could do it under those conditions, when even that will not erase the stain, a stain that might be even darker if that body of his proves to be the product of science? Would he stay out there in the public eye if the distractions do impact his game and the wins/record become unachievable?

Yachts like that are owned by corporations registered in places like Southampton, Nassau, Bermuda, Panama or other low tax flag states.

That's company A.

Company B charters the yachts from Company A and then makes it available for the owner of it all to use it.

The owner saves on things like property tax and as a foreign flag vessel if the crew has their act together they don't pay sales tax on anything they buy (except consumables like food and fuel) in the US. The only hitch is they have to leave the U.S. every six months (IIRC) and then clear back in through customs to renew their cruising permit. Easy when you have a motoryacht in Florida, not so easy when you run a sailboat in Rhode Island. We would either go to Bermuda for a few weeks or head NE to Nova Scotia.

He also save a little because chances are his handlers have it set up so that most of company B's expenses are a write off.

So yeah I suppose you could say Tiger leases it but you can bet he owns a majority stake in the corporation(s) involved.

the yacht is registered in the Cayman Islands to the Privacy Ltd. holding company, which Woods owns.
