If it could be dione, I agree with you that it would be interesting. But I just don't think you can compare eras in any sport. It's not just clubs and balls that have changed in golf, it's also courses and the depth of the field.

Nicklaus says this is a good year for Woods to add to his majors tally, because they're being played on courses he likes and on which he's won before.

On what do you base these statements, Sid? Perhaps you've seen or heard some things that I haven't, but my understanding is that guys who had been on the Tour with Tiger for years had no idea what he was up to.
In fact, shortly after the scandal broke, Jesper Parnevik basically made a public apology to Elin Nordegren for having encouraged her to date Woods. According to Parnevik's statement, he vouched for Tiger as a man of strong character and values, and felt like an ass for having done so after all of this shit came to light. If Parnevik didn't know what kind of guy Woods really was after being around him for more than a decade, how could one expect his then au pair to be any better informed?

Apparently so.

I read that she addressed the issue with him before they got married. I'm not saying she knew the extent of his partying, just that she knew he liked to have a wild time and that she made him promise to cut it out.

That golf club to his face wasn't out of the blue. She didn't check his text messages because she thought everything was fine.

Who knows, but I get the sense from all the rumors that you're right.

Really?

It sounds just like what Butch Harmon said in the quote.

Harmon, who commentates for Sky, said the main reason he thinks the 14-time major winner will compete in 2010 is that the U.S. and British Opens are being played on courses Woods likes.

"I don't know the answer to what he is going to do and what he is going to play," Nicklaus said Friday. "Certainly this year, where the majors are . . . he obviously loves Augusta, Pebble Beach and St. Andrews. He basically owns all three of those places.

http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/news/story?id=4809137

"If Tiger is going to pass my record, I think this is a big year for him in that regard. If he doesn't play this year, obviously the chore is going to be a little tougher."
Nicklaus took questions on a conference call from his North Palm Beach, Fla., office due to requests surrounding his 70th birthday, which is Jan. 21

The first sign he is coming back will be a confessional/tell all interview with Barbara Walters, or Katie Couric, or Oprah. Yeh, Oprah, that's the ticket.

I just don't see TW going on Oprah and confessing his sins.
