Yamaha DT250A restoration
Well I have finished my Honda CL450 project from last winter so I've got to find something else to keep the long winter bearable here.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showt...ight=johnnyc14 I found a 74 DT250 locally on Kijiji and I'm going to bring it back to life. It actually runs pretty well but needs a lot of TLC to make it presentable. ![]() ![]() ![]() There are lots of parts on ebay so it should go fairly fast I think. At least I hope so.

Good luck with the project. I have a '77 DT400 that I'm working on. Was going to disassemble it and sell off the parts, but didn't have the heart to do it. Got it running, spent a few $$$$ for necessary parts and now it's rideable. Waiting on some warmer weather to test it out.

It's nice to know there's other people out there who can't stand to see old bikes die.

Well it's a start. I got the bike completely disassembled and ordered a bunch of small parts. We had a giant snow storm here yesterday so I'm settled in the garage for the weekend.

I really love the color of that bike, it just works perfectly with the lines.
Looks like you've made some great headway so far. My frame looked like that a few days ago. It was pretty de-motivating to look around your garage and just see parts everywhere but after you throw some paint around things start looking up again!

1974 DT 250 was my first motorcycle. Good luck with the project. What a nice way to spend a cold winter.

I've been working n the bike slowly over the past couple of weeks. It's kinda cool to see some of the stuff on these old bikes. This one still has the original front tire, a Dunlop Trials Universal.
![]() It's completely dis-assembled and I've bead blasted most of the parts. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Not much left of the seat base so I'm hunting for a seat if any one knows where one is let me know. ![]() ![]() The engine is not too bad. The bore is .002" tapered, right at the limit of the spec so I've got a OS piston ordered. The main bearings are a little rough so they are also getting replaced. The trans looks like new. Parts are still readily available. ![]() ![]() ![]() You can see it must have sat with some water in the bottom of the engine at one time by the rust on the crank but thankfully the water did not touch the rod bearing, it is till good. ![]() ![]() I still have to get the frame stripped and I haven't decided where to get that done yet. I'll check out some vendors at the bike show and see who will give a good deal on that. ![]() Anyway I'm having fun, I'll keep you posted.

Cool project(s)
![]() I suggest buying a powder coating system, they are only $200 and you seem to do enough restoring to warrant one. I will be following along.
