Palm trees at sunrise.
Refugio State Beach near Santa Barbara, California
Note: this is sunrise over the Pacific Ocean! The beach faces towards the south...and it's winter. Odd to see a sunrise on the West Coast of North America this time of year....

I know that tree! It's a good friend of mine. I've spent quite a few crepuscular hours at Sunrise Point at Bryce hanging with that guy.

Here's a photo from the other side as the sun illuminates the canyon....

aspen 'grafitti' is pretty common in western colorado, and sometimes pretty funny. bored south american shepherds are responsible for quite a bit. theirs can range from artistic pictures to simple tags that equate to things like "ecuador sucks", or "bolivia rulz"......

A few feet above the bike there's an old scythe that was place in the tree years ago. It's now part of the tree.

Thats a fantastic tree - but certainly not the oldest or largest - its probably a Sweet chestnut (Castaniea sativa) not a Horse Chestnut (Aesculus hippocastanum). Sorry to be anal but trees are my job so I'm a dick about such things
Keep the pics of Italian veteran trees coming.
