Vinyl car wrap

Any of you guys in the business or done a lot of it? I'm seeing so many brands and types that I'm not sure what to use. Seems like the cast type is better than the calendered but many sites and listing don't list what type it is.

I'm looking for cheap since I'm mainly wanting to wrap a hood to protect the body work I'm doing until it warms up and I can paint it. If I could find a realistic carbon fiber looking type I might do some other stuff.

The 3m 1080 seems like the top dog but It would be $120 for the 60"x60" piece I'd need just for the hood. That is more than I'm wanting to spend for something that will be temporary.

Not wrap, but many are having good luck with spray plastidip

I have a kit sitting here to do a set of rims. 4 cans about $35 Just need to clear some room in the workshop!

I bought a couple of small pieces of 1080, but they carry cheaper stuff too. Remember it's short time use in your case.

I've done a couple motorcycles with the 3m 1080. It's some quality stuff. Much tougher than spray paint or plastidip.

The more I think about it the more this sounds like a horrible idea. Think I'm just going to prime and either figure something out on paint asap or may try that plastidip over the primer.

I am going to have to order some of this stuff to check out though.
