Gardening advice (pool to garden)
Anybody done anything interesting with an old pool?
I am finished with ours. Didn't even open it up this year.
I would really like a garden although I would be a complete noob.
I am thinking of cutting the swimming pool down to about 2.5' tall and filling it in about 1' tall with some top soil to make a garden.
This would be less work than removing the entire thing and the landscaping around it. It would help keep dogs and animals out and give me a nice defined area.
I can run some irrigation under it before the top soil goes in. I have a good supply of olive barrels and can collect tons of rain water from our gutter. Electricity is already there so I can buy a pump and run sprinklers whenever needed.
This is my set up at my camp. It works well.
It looks like I may even be able to use it as a green house to get things going early in the year.
Plant some flowers around the outside and it wouldn't even look 1/2 bad.
Any input from actual succesful gardeners? The project itself should not be difficult but if I am doing something counter productive to gardening I'd like to know.

Remove the liner first. What do you plan on using for fill? When we took down the pool at our new house there was some weird substrate below the liner that had to be removed also. If we didn't it would not have drained well.
