So I put a fancy schmancy Elka 5way adj rear shock on the Swiss Army bike. I would of rebuilt the stock one but it was supposededly unrebuildable. Do any of you also posses one of these beauties?

Big deal. I have one on my wheelbarrow. I tend to run it on the softer settings.

I have been drooling over one of those for a while. But I could buy a used KLR for that much. Would have been the first purchase if I won the Mega Ball lottery.

I have one similar. I have the Progressive 465 with R.A.P. that I just installed today.
Too bad I can't ride yet, I'm dying to test it out.

That's funny as hell that for a minute you guys think that I would pay retail price for one of these. The're like $1100.00 new.
No, I bought it from a Florida inmate w/apx 2000mi on it.

I have not properly set up the sag yet w a tape measure, but on Sunday's ride I road a bit, then increased the preload till I thought it felt in the ballpark. After 3 "seat of the pants" collar adjustments I'm thinking that I need to go up in spring rate. I'm to heavy for this spring. I asked my wife if it could possibly be my penis. She preceded to assure me that in fact is not the case and started mumbling some crap about my belly but what the hell does she know about motorcycles anyways.

I guess I could use a second person to help me take the measurements. Back in the day [if I remember it right] we used to set the sag w/ATGATT rider on the bike to around 30% of whatever total travel is. Then you would hope the damn bike would sag on it's own weight around an inch or so.

Good grab on the shock. I am about ready to buy a set of progressive shock/fork springs for the F8. Heard it makes a world of difference. I do have a sprocket/chain set coming tomorrow, with a 1 tooth larger rear. Hoping that solves the slow trail lugging in 1st. If you ever see another deal on a shock, let me know.
