The kid already took all the Graphics off it, did a hack job on the lower rear fender, added some goofy rock star energy drink logos on it. They wanted 3300. (dealer). I actually had done a search for factory graphics and found some, decided maybe with a little tlc it was worth the money savings...but I hesitated too long. I cant get a dealer under 4 grand out the door anywhere near me. And the economy has me a little worried.
Probably wise to hold off, doesn't sound like a super great deal, who knows what else that kid did to it...

Maybe as new bikes come in a deal will come your way though.

I bought my SF with 2,000 miles on it no warranty left for 3,000 out the door. Pristine shape.

I'm looking at this or a Suzuki TU250 for my first bike.

No one in town has a TU250 and I saw a leftover '09 KLXSF at a dealer and really liked the look and feel of it. They have it priced at $3499 (pre-fees), it was a demo unit and there are a few scratches actually. So my question is: what would a fair offer be? I don't think I should have to pay for freight, set-up, etc. on a bike that they received in late '08/early '09. Plus I think the minor cosmetic flaws should count for something. Would asking to get out for about $3200-3300 be a ridiculous lowball?

Thanks in advance! I've been lurking on this site for a while now and the community is great!
We just picked out brand new 0 mile KLX250SF up at a CO dealer for $3500 with no tax or fees. Once back in NM I had to pay 3% sales tax and $28 or something to register it for 2 years. So basically my out the door price was about $3630 brand new.

This was their last SF.

Visually, the "SF" tires look shorter. If they really are then that would make the overall ratio lower, not higher.

Ron
SF gearing is 14/39.

14/42 and 13/39 are the exact same ratio.

Yikes, you beat me! Nice find. I probably should have bargained harder, but it was my first go-around with a dealer. Lessons were learned. Enjoy the bike, I've got my 600 mile service lined up for the weekend, can't wait until don't have to baby the engine after 1000 miles.

I forgot to mention my travel costs (and time) to drive 14 hours round trip in my diesel truck That should make you feel a little better

Has anyone modified or purchased a different seat?

Did a 200 mile day today and it would have been sweeter if the seat was a little more comfortable.

I recently bought a Seat Concepts seat. I typically do 300 mile days to the mountains and I'm happy with it.

I had a Sargent for my recently sold '08 KLR and really liked it as well.

Wait and see what happens next week since it'll be 2011 so those 2009s will now be two years old.

My preference is the 2010 but will consider the 2009 with a discount on the OTD pricing.
Sorry for reviving this, but I thought I'd let you know that the dealers in this are (Orlando/Ocala/Tampa) are still trying to get MSRP for the leftover 09's.

One dealer had a list price of $3000, but their out the door came to over $5000! When I told them that was ridiculous for a 3 year old bike, they came back with $4800 (final). I laughed and left.

Although, it always needs to be choked when starting mine there's been only one time when I thought I wasn't going to get it started. I waited a couple minutes and it finally started. After I took it in for the 7,500mi checkup (with 9,000 miles on the bike) and it's been great ever since. Hope they get your bike sorted out soon because it's a great bike and you'll love it.

I put a Mefo on mine that I used to have on an 08 KLR. Fits great and it rides nice, too. Might be a little taller but no complaints. Shinko 244s front and rear are next when the Mefo wears out.
