CT90 Help!

My new countershaft sprocket doesn't fit. The square teeth that the high gear slides onto are about .010 too tall. The p/n is correct and the high gear wouldn't wear smaller. Metal don't work that way. Is Honda's QC that far off? Anybody else have this problem?
