Gone, Again... ( Random Adventures in Oz )

... and was off again... a coffee in Beachport, then up past Robe, thru the Coorong to Meningie...




then onto Adelaide via Tailem Bend...

stayed at a 'friends' place the night, then threw her on the back of the bike and headed north in 42 degree heat

fuel stop at Hawker...



then back out onto the (hot) open road...




and into the Flinders Ranges again...





and finally after 900km from home (and 500km in 42 degree heat with a girl on the back ) into the Prairie Hotel at Parachilna for Beers, Ciders, shots, cold showers...



and 3 days of music great food and cold drinks




and of course, as is standard up there.... lots of big skies,




sunsets.....



sunsets....




and sunsets




and after 3 days of sweating, eating drinking, showering,.......................................

it was time to bid farewell to the Prarie,



and Parachilna...



and get back on the bike for the hot old 900km ride home again......

Bike didnt even know it had a pillion on her

anyway, since then i put '2-fiddy' up for sale....




she sold pretty quickly to a guy with no front teeth and 9 kids i'm sure she'll be happy and it gives me enough fuel money to do a 'lap'

but first i should go for a littler spin

(oh and thanks to the inmates who spotted the ad for 2-fiddy and messaged me that i couldnt possibly sell her after all we'd been thru )

anyway... anyone ever noticed that i tend to finish the 'last' ride...just as i'm heading off on another one ?

i'll post a spot link tomorrow when i hit the road

It's good to be following yr travels again. Up to yr old tricks with that care free writing style.

re Johana beach. to the right of the car park. ( about 1km uphill) you can see a steep treeless slope. couple of years ago one of my boys set a new Australian speed record there for Radio Control gliders ( Dynamic Soaring, DS ) at 278mph./450kph. ( no motor ) when wind conditions are right they really crank up.

Current Aust record is 335mph/ 542kph ...I think. Current world record set on west coast US of A. 495 or 499mph..around 800kph..

Keep that BM upright....

Enjoyed having a read, I'm coming into Darwin in about 2 months time, if you are doing a lap and end up around there in that time period i would be keen to meet for a beer or 2.

so ummm, apologies for not posting the link as promised....

and also sorry for the vagueness that is about to follow.... but i got some catching up to do


let me think...


i sold the old 2-fiddy.... and i got an invite to my cousins weddding over in victoria... and a week after that was a mates
(inmate Whitta who i was riding with when i busted me leg) birthday and he was havin a bit of a shindig near bendigo.... so i was faced with the delema of a weding in Healesville one saturday...and a mates birthday party near Bendigo the following saturday... i couldnt see any reason to come back to South Australia in between


to top it all off.... inmate Sundowner (who id been on lots of great day rides with) was startin to talk about a spin upto Finke for a few days about a month later for the Finke Desert Race (a 2 day 500km race down and back an abandonded railway line thru the desert )

so there was a bit on the table

....keep us posted..........you are doing a good job of sticking to the title of this thread ....the "random" part......which seems to work as long as you can keep the pictures going.

suggestion......why not set up a photobucket account as a backup (I've never had any problems there).
