yeah yeah yeah.... was just about to press 'post' on the first part.... and my CPU fan spat the dummy, 'puter overheated and switched itself off.

maybe later today i'll tempt fate again


first day wasnt much anyway.... just a trip into the shop for another new rear




but i did good this time and was packed ready to go straight from the shop

nothing to report for the 500 and a bit run to Melbourne... same old wet winter down here... no photos... 'cept this one cos i was bored waiting for roadworks



a night at mums , then a out east to Healesville where my cousin was getting married...

all the campground cabins were booked out, but i managed to find a shitty room in a pub for $40 bucks...

nice end of the world in Autumn...




so the wedding happened.... not a bad spot for it



and late the next day i headed off past the cabbages towards Marysville..





the main road was a great twisty number, but it wasnt long till some of the smaller tracks hooked me and i was off on a 'short-cut'

ok, so yeah...took a detour.... which soon led to another detour...



just as well i wasnt going the other way or it would have been another detour



nice to see a bit of mud though

but that soon turned to gravel....



and dirt..whith old bushfire reminants

looked like my shortcut was indeed a shortcut

i was making good progress on the GPS..




that was of course until i came to this

seems i'd hit the O'shannassy Dam catchment area and they were pretty keen to keep you out


that meant a fairly serious backtrack..



and a bit of 'good ol bitumen' to get a couple of miles down before dark.... and being the middle of winter it gotr dark early...

made it to the kookie little town of Woods point on sunset..



there is only fuel available from the pub... and as the guy had just locked up the shed after fueling up and was heading back into the pub, i figured i had just enough to get to Licola and so wouldnt trouble him...

time to find camp...GPS kinda showed a road from Woods Point to licola... but had a hard time finding it...

settled on a little traack that went down to the Goulburn River



thru creek crossing number 1 of 3 billion 400 and 72 thousand 9 hundred and sixty two...

and setup at a great little camp site..



i know i had a fire.... cos there was a fireplace... and it was freakin cold! but i have no fire pictures.... hmmmm..

next morning was bloody cold...... up, packed, heated grips on... and find the track out...


was a great track that followed the Goulburn river...


crossing it lots of times...


winding past old Huts....


and the odd bit o fungus.....




wasnt that long till the track started of get fairly dodgy....




parked here while i investigated another shitty river crossing...



and decided that this couldnt be the 'main road' to Licola




so faced with this... and it not taking me were i wanted to go...and given i didnt have too much fuel...




it was time to turn around... here...




which turned out to be fairly easy....

of course getting back had a few challenges...




but after last trip i'd started carrying a 2 metre length of strapping to help with situations like this




and so was soon out and back on my way

back to the miners hut and turn off up a hill to a 'better' track...

just had to keep an eye out for old mine shafts






out onto an 'even better' road'...



which meant it wasnt long till i was looking for another 'not so good road'

which wasnt too hard to find....

stopped somewhere for a weeee... and gave the packs a quick check over... discovered a loose bolt on the rear rack, so a bit of unpacking and some lock-tite on this fella...



and all was good again...hopefully



and since i was unpacked, and it was a good sorta spot i figured here would do for lunch too
