Just saw the CamOne Infinity. Looks like a fairly shameless Go Pro clone, even down to the mounting system. Anyone who has had both compared the two? The low price (I can get one for £179), coupled with built in screen make it look tempting, but I'm a bit dubious as to if it would be "drop a GS on it" tough.

The new accessory I'll be getting with the hero 3 is the tethers.

Here's some roost cam video from whitewash sand dunes near moab.
I was using one of the small round polarizing filters, check it out in FS HD 1080P.

Great video. I love riding in the sand.

I've been using a piece of para cord as a tether for a long time. You can see it in some of my videos flapping around before I shortened it.

Bit disappointed to see the new "2X as powerful" Go Pro 3 only has 120FPS as the highest speed low res framerate (the old one had 100FPS). I had hoped this iteration would have a 200FPS, or at least 150FPS low res mode for some superbly smooth slow 'mo. I know that 400fps in something this small is another 5 years away, but damn, the really smooth slow mo from videos like this is what I want:

I could be wrong but I thought some software will create slow motion from raw footage even if it was not shot at a high frame rate.

But I do agree, it would be nice to have faster frame rates with the GoPro. Of course the cost of the camera would probably go way up.

Speaking of cost, I notice the cost went up $100.00 over the HD Hero cost and they are not including any of the cables I got with my HD Hero. Did the lack of cables start with the HD-3 or did the HD-2 also not come with the video cables?

You can make slow mo go even slower with software (see Ridefreak's roosting one), but it's not as good as one shot at 200fps.

Yes, big cost spike. I wonder how popular the bundled Remote will be as many people will just run the smartphone app soon. I hope the 2nd hand price of remotes plummets as a result.

IIRC, my HD Hero 2 came with just a USB charge lead; I had to buy the mini HDMI myself.

The remote and phone app work nicely together - you use the app to line up the camera view and quickly make camera adjustments, then as a final step relinquish control to the remote sitting on your dash or whatever. The remote is waterproof - phones usually aren't.

So I wouldn't expect a bunch of remotes going unused.

As the highest res my youtube channel supports is 720p, I usually film WVGA 100FPS and the loss in quality isn't too much (unless you compare it to playing back 1080P on a big TV. Slow mo from that is quite good. Nice for rearward facing roost shots like in your video.

I'm trying to send 1 in an email as an attachment , I cant get them to attach , just keeps loading for like 10 minutes and never stops .

What am I doing wrong ?

How can I fix this ?


I managed to send a 2 second clip via email but it took about 3 minutes to attach ,

Is there a setting wrong somewhere ?

Look at the file sizes of the attachments you're trying to send. You're probably going to find that sending the originals won't work but if you trim the files and convert them to smaller files you'll be more successful.
