Its new enough...just wondering cause many came with iMovie which is great to start with and will get you some good results with little knowledge but I believe only the new version of iMovie can export HD video if you want to post as HD to Vimeo or youtube.

iMovie 09 and 11 will work with HD vids.

the editing part is easy.
the storage part can be challenging.

buy an external HD now and don't do what I did and load up your computers HD.

Ah Good to know...I thought 09 couldn't export the HD videos, don't know if it was something I was told or I couldn't find the right format...I'll try it again! Thanks!

my computer came with iMovie '09 when i bought it in August 2010 and in October 2010 they came out with iMovie '11.
the only difference is the ease of editing, adding music, seeing the sound graph, AND the movie trailers

Question Looking for Wisdom from the Computer Gods

Ok guy's I got a GoPro Helmet HD today and I can play the video on my HP desk top. BUT when I plug it into my little Gateway notebook: Windows Media Player Says>

"Windows Media player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file."

So what can/do I do?

I will state that I am a computer noob, self taught for two years. But still behind the curve.

Want to use this notebook because I'm riding the bike to Idaho in the morning through the rain, sleet and snow....I wanna film this.
Plus I'll be sledding in the Rockies next week when I get there and that should be some good stuff too.
Thanx for any and all help, I'll try to check back tomorrow when I stop for the night West of the Mississippi to see if I can figure this out with your help. Peace JJ

Just wanted to pass this on with the issue I've had with my GoPro. Found another guy on the gopro forums with the same issue.

The pros at GoPro

Sounds like good service to me. Nice to know they stand behind their product.

Hey everyone,

I shot a couple of shorts videos last night and have messed with them enough to cut/clip a couple of them together. I just mounted the gopro on the side of my XX using the suction cup and am planning on using it for really the first time tomorrow. My main question for now is: what picture quality should I shoot it at if my main goal is to upload it to vimeo?

I can already tell that I will likely order an extra battery and the lcd screen before it is all said and done. Thanks.

Quality

Shoot in 1280x720 for the web, It gives you a wide angle view and the quality for web is great. See the vids in my sig for samples.

And if you use the one at 60fps it helps with vibration...but if your on the street its not as big a deal as trails, but if it is mounted to the bike still consider it cause the vibration is transfered to the camera unlike on the helmet where you tend to dampen it.
