New Ural Rider
Hello!
Just go my Ural Patrol yesterday, and am in the process of getting familiar with it. (Also my first bike.) Thought I'd introduce myself and say "Hello!" And as to the tornadoes,it was fairly tame in North Dallas, but we did loose power for 4 hours. JRSM |

We'll see about May. I'm a brand new rider. First bike, so I'm rambling around the neighborhood and nearby parking lots to get some muscle memory. When I take it out on the road where it really counts, I don't want to have to think about what I need to do! With the rain, I've only gotten a couple of introductory miles so far.I looked at them years ago, before the changes made in about '05. Not being very handy with a wrench, I was discouraged away. Looked at some 2 wheelers, and almost bought one, but something spooked the wife. Not sure what, but if she's that spooked, I thought I should back off. Want a happy wife, so I don't have to argue about a new hobby... She indicated 3 wheels might be OK. Spyders are cool, but even used are pretty pricy. Harley and Gold Wing trikes are WAY out of budget. And some of the kit trikes, especially old VW ones, are not practical for my interests. Learned the new Urals were reasonably priced and much higher quality, so I did some homework, talked to the wife, and we looked at a couple. Storm's in Grand Prairie impressed me by being more interested in making sure I would be happy, then pushing the sale, that I hauled all the way from Allen to buy out there. They even took my wife for a ride, so she could get a feel what the side car was like. JRSM |

Dfw riders
I live in Wyle and have been riding my v-strom for a coupe of years now. I also have a dirt bike and love to go trail-riding.
There are lots of riding groups in the metroplex, but none of them (that I've been able to find) are for riders of big adventure bikes. I'd like to meet up with riders of GS's, Adventures, Super-T's or stroms that like to take their bikes off the pavement. I rode around Moab and Silverton last year on my strom and had a great time. Closer to home I've ridden my strom at Rocky Ridge. I'm planning on a ride Sunday (4/29). Hope to get in the dirt somewhere. Maybe around Broken Bow in OK. If you enjoy similar riding give me a shout. Seldon |

Seldon,
Thanks for the invite, maybe next go around. Already commited for Sunday. Have not done any off road, but would like to. If you can cope with a newbie that wants to learn, may next time? JRSM

If you'd like to feel better about yourself, or your children, or your no account son-in-law......
come meet up with this bunch of fools and charlatans, ruffians and scalawags, ne'er-do-well's and never-wuzzers. Not a single one of us could ever run for political office (or would want to for that matter ). http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=778903 Attendance for all or part is guaranteed to give you a greater sense of self-worth. Oh, yeah. We'll tell some lies. Big-Dave and Ghost will tell the truth and it will sound like lies. We'll ride some pretty country , too. Plenty o dirt. Plenty o twisties. And Ghost's place is rough as the proverbial cob (for you single-track wannabes) . Whatever ya want, we can find it. A hotel nearby-ish. Sorta. O.K. That's pretty much a lie. But not really. ;)

Y'all missed some big fun this past weekend at the Ghost Ranch. Next weekend we are sending the Jersey boy home with a trip to Loco Coyote and then an overnight Saturday in Laguna Park. There will be some riding, too. ;) Check out this thread.
http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=782672 Deep Down is about 5 minutes from Loco.
