Help.... route suggestions welcome.

I'm headed towards the Ozark mountains and Cherohala Skyway, Tellico Plains, TN. Leaving from Phoenix, AZ. What's the typical weather like in April or May. Any suggestions of routes from New Mexico through Texas would be appreciated. Straying down smaller highways and back roads. Love to find great hole in the wall diners, suggestions for a Texas steak or BBQ/ local fare is even better. Thanks for your help. BTW I will be in no hurry to blast through if there are some things worth seeing along the wayl

What kind of bike are you riding? Looking for dirt or pavement?
April and may in arkansas are you usually pretty mild things are starting to spring up but this has been a weird year (here in little Rock were expecting a few inches of snow tomorrow) but like I said normally April may is pretty nice perfect camping weather

Here's one idea: https://goo.gl/maps/5gQGD

Its pretty flat from Roswell, NM to Graham, TX...

The ride from De Queen to Peel Ferry is good...

I'm just guessing from the ferry east...

PS: In Roswell, don't waste your time with the UFO museum... rather go to the city museum to see the display about Robert Goddard. He built and flew the first liquid fueled rockets, the father of our space program.
