flowers have been sent to the funeral home on behalf of Holley, Loftus and the entire BWDR family.

the 2006 eastern rendezvous was my first adv event, like so many others have said, Rick had a way about him that made you feel like family from the moment you met him. I had a lot of fun riding and hanging out with Rick these past few years. I still can't believe he is gone. I am thankful to have so many happy memories to remember him by.

love you Party Boss, rest in peace.

Thanks Holley. I thought I would be over the shock by now. I caught myself mentally inviting Rick to BWDR campout and wanting to call him for advice on something. It chokes me up every time..

So sad! Rick was always fun to party or chat with and he could sure could whip up a great platter of cheese and crackers in the middle of nowhere to share from his topbox. When he rode that k1300 like no ones business on twisty WV roads, I sure knew that trying to keep up with him was futile and beyond my abilities.RIP Rick and party on Boss! So strange I was just about to call him because his pest control company services my families farm and my house and I wanted to ask him something. When did this happen? Miss you friend, may the bikes in heaven never run out of fuel and the perfect roads go on forever.

Whats the plan for this weekend? We should be meeting up and drinking some tequila and smoking a phat cigar. Rick would want us to party...

The first time I met Rick was LF Spring 2010. He was looking for a paved ride on Friday, so we went out together. The only time that I had even a chance to keep up with him on pavement was Glady Road, and that have been only because I knew it better than he did. One of the better ride days that I have had.

Yeah, he will be missed.

So sorry for those who know Rick. I met him for the first time at BWDR last fall. Being an ADV ho.... I had seen the images, threads and heard the stories of his exploits. He was one of ADV's best (and the best in general) and I was looking forward to getting to know him. All the posts in his memorial thread are a testament to his ability to bring people together. I'll miss him and I barely knew him.
Sad.

We are truly diminished Jack.

We lost a fellow rider.

I lost a friend.

Skyclad... Could you post your Memorial here....
It is so nice .. And I can't it copied...

He was to Young to be taken ....
We are both still in Shock ...

I read the State Police report ...
The SUV driver got a slap on the hand and a ticket for Failure to yield right of way WTF ..

Our Friend is GONE and can NOT be replaced.....And that's ALL she got ..

SC drivers do this ALL the time .... Don/Highbinder was lucky in 03 he had the same thing happen to him in SC ... He laid in the road for 35 min.Unconscious.. He also had a left turner with a run .. The person left the scene of the crime..
NO I was not with him on that trip ,he was alone .. I had kicked myself for a long time for NOT being with him.. Someone had to watch the farm...Thank Goodness he is still here with me ...

Sorry for the rant....

No worries. That's not a rant.

I'll keep my rant in on the subject, it would be much worse.

Hi jack over.

The cops should be able to charge drivers with manslaughter in an instance like that.

They may not go to prison but they'll never drive again.

LD, can you please share where you found the police report? I would like to know more about what happened. I never met Rick, but the memories shared the least few days have been very complimentary.

The report was referenced in a link to the obit in the Fredericksburg newspaper. It's in the tribute thread, if I can find it I'll post it.

Essentially, Rick was headed West on SC 20 when someone driving east, in a Buick SUV turned in front of him into a private driveway. The driver was charged with failure to yield the right of way. IMO, the driver should have been charged with manslaughter and up here, he/she would have.
