old plastics
Does anyone have a source for old plastics? I have a 97 300 EXC, and I've found some on ebay, but seems like all the major sites don't go back further than 98...

Yeah, with everything else going on lately, I have not been out on dirtbikes lately either. Wife is ready to pop anytime now, so I am staying close to home. Hopefully I'll get bike back together and ready to ride in the next few weeks.

Sorry to hear you guys have not been out riding.
We've had perfect weather the last few days in Central FL. I've been adjusting to the 300, 2-3 hrs a day and I'm feeling comfortable! Hope she makes it through her first hare scramble race tomorrow! Numbers going on today ![]()

Got the KTM all back together, with the new motor mounts from Egay. I added some new silicone sealant around the exhaust flange/gasket/mount, so I did not want to start it up just yet. I wanna give that sealant 24 hrs to cure, and hopefully I have eliminated any and all air leaks.
I am also giving one of those green exhaust seals(o-ring) a try, to which I did not have last time..so we'll see how well that seals too.

Rode my first Hare Scramble race on the 300 this past weekend. What a thirsty pig! Have the clarke 3.4g (I think) on a 99 MXC, just short of 3 laps, 27 miles and she hit reserve.

RideFreak: is that 5MOH? I actually bought my GG300 just for that trail! We have a trip planned for fall 2014 (no I'm not kidding, we have to plan waaaayyyy in advance to get anyone else to commit to trips that far from home.) How long did it take to get your group through?

KTM 300 question: I'm putting in a new piston in my 2011 XC-W this winter. Someone mentioned a head swap to get more torque. Any leads? I thought I heard to use the SXF head.

That trail looks great!
i think the SX head gives you a bit more snap; tighter squish zone? i rode one briefly and it was a bit more responsive than a stocker. I can't remember if it had a different CDI, too, but i think thats the hot setup. SXF is a four stroke bike |

Any tips on jetting? I've been riding my 300 like a diesel. Great low end torque, then it starts to stutter at contant low throttle a few thousand RPM above idle. This causes me to short shift for cleaner running, and I'm only using a very narrow portion of the RPM range and shifting a lot to stay in that range. It rips up high, but I seldom have need for that kind of power on single track. I think I need a smaller pilot jet.
