Elefantentreffen 2007 - Germany , a second-hand report
Disclaimer : unfortunately
this is not mine ...a good friend made a winter ride with some friends and I thought that would'nt be a bad idea to share his photos with you FF's .. “Elefantentreffen” (Elephanten Meeting) is a nice idea since 1956, when seven driver of Zündapp Elefant sidecar decided to go to Stuttgart, Germany, during the terrible winter. The travel had a happy end so, since that year, more and more people tried to do this fantastic travel across the White Mother. The party is at the end of january. In the last years, the place is Loh, very-very-very small village in the National Park of Bavarian, between Danubio river and Czech Republic. The party is based on the sleeping in tent, so when you arrived after a very long and frozen travel, you’ve not a hot shover waiting for you, but a tent to build. This year it was my ninth Elefantentreffen. I started from Milan, Italy with 5 friends and we tried to reach Munich across Engadina, very beautiful valley in Switzerland. Now, here are a few photos. ![]() 01.Seregno, “slum” in Nord Milan: the start is under the snow. It’s Tuesday night. Uhm, it’s too early for have weather-troubles! We have just 500 miles from Milano to Loh… ![]() 02.We enter in Switzerland in Chiavenna and we begin to ride on the snowy road of Malojapass. ![]() 03.Freeclimbing in Hotel Stampa, Casaccia, Switzerland. We sleep here! ![]() 04.At Friday morning, the situation on Malojapass is better than we were afraid!

Now that's an adventure!!! Thanks for sharing your friend's report. Looks like one cold ride, although the gal at the gas station wasn't really dressed for the weather (lucky for us!)...
