Yep, weather was perfect, rained like hell on Saturday from what I heard. I got a really good start, probably about 10th at the bomb, then I slowed down and made sure I could get to the finish. Got 32nd OA and 2nd Senior Open.

thats freakin awesome man.... 32nd! what's yer highest finish? I doubt ill ever get that high!

here is the video of me flubbing the start. I kicked the bike and it started but because I hadn't really warmed it up when I went to give it the beans, it stalled.
You can even hear when I start it, it stutters a bit then clears out.

My highest finish was a 10th OA and first Vet open, but that was 20 years ago.

I've had bad starts before, two or three kicks, but the worst one I ever had (riding beginner) was so bad that the bomb sweep crew were almost done and they were going to start the quads by the time I got my bike running. I started something like 15 minutes late. When I got the results, I had passed over 200 people. Races were a lot bigger back when.

This weekends race went well - I dont know the results but I finished again! 2 for 2!

We didnt go up satruday because it was pouring so we left at 5am sunday.

the cat was up all night drinking and watching TV. she will never learn till she hits rocks bottom

I was barely even signed in and already late

had to add some new hardware to the bike to make sure it held together this time

didnt even get to warm the dammed thing up!!

at the start

me and the wife

a kiss before lining up

waiting for the banner to drop

I kicked the bike and it started so I gave it gas, but because it wasnt hot, it stalled. So it started second kick and I Was off late.....

you can hear it sputter when it finally starts

off a little late but charging.

there is no real spectator part to desert racing....I did have a Go Pro but didnt have time to mount it! NEXT time ill have race video.

end of race, heading into the pits

first things first, ICE CREAM TRUCK!!!

good little piggy

freakin tired

still got gravel in my teeth

the hands do take a beating

Those shots of the start line and nothing but the open desert infront of you is just amazing to me. It's so opposite of the races we have down here. We have sand like you, but maaaany more trees !

great job on the race and the report !

got any pics of starts down there?

inversely, It would be bizarre to be racing under trees..... its just so common to crest a hill and have desert in front of you as far as the eye can see!! I have crashed more than once just taking in the view.

I have my days. By the way, did you reconize any of that first loop? It went right through where I took you riding at the national.

Yeah I did!

It was strange, I was battling along and I was like, Hey! This is a bit from the first race! Then I had this weird Deja Vu thing in my head. This would be where I insert, "Then I crashed"

but I didnt!

that means; improvement

Im going to try and make it out on the weekend of the 14th.... not sure yet though.

All you do is ride your own race, don't worry about the other guys. They'll find a way around. Trust me.
