Very real. I was amazed every day by how personable he was in such trying circumstances.

What is the current requirements for fuel capacity?
![]() Found this picture from the LA Dakar Page: ![]() http://www.ladakar.com/wp-content/up...1/DSCN3513.jpg Whilst IMO is an extremly simple/clean solution for a Dakar bike, I was not sure that the Safari Tanks solution, had quite enough capacity? http://www.safaritanks.com.au/home/1...ypage.tpl.html It states on the safari website that the tanks are 21L at the front and 8.5L at the rear. I thought that around 35L was a reasonable minimum. Any thoughts/comments?

For the current Dakar (since 2006), you gotta be able to go 250km between fuel stops. Most people add a 10% margin of error to that. Before 2006, you had to be able to go 350km between fuel stops.
For the average 450cc enduro bike, 28L should just about do it, but there are too many variables to call this a rule. Anyone headed to the Dakar better have tested their fuel consumption in the correct conditions several times. fun fun Charlie |

The fast guys need much more fuel, something about time on the main jet.
