Grabbed the opportunity to scrutinize Pal Anders' Kenny-jacket closely on the Lillestrom MC-fair. He was too busy selling advertising items to have much time for chatting, so I just hung around snapping pictures and oogled his show-stand equipment.

The Bring-sponsored Kenny Rally-Raid Jacket was smartly showcased on a mannequin. It was well-used, slighly fesh-fesh-covered on both sides and appeared comfortable and lightweight. Inner lining was a comfortable, moisture-whicking synthetic fabric with several practical pockets. Inside of sleeves was vented. If you're after a lightweight, high-physical activity, long-haul offroad racing jacket with lots of practical pockets (on both sides), this is a quality item with excellent functionality. Especially the vented sleeves should be handy in warm climate stages. It's understandably not waterproof (like most other cordura-based enduro gear) - so there's a good reason to carry waterproofs along in wet weather.

Edit: The 3-jacket package is the least a heavily sponsored competition rider would need for commercial exposure.
This fabric can only tolerate a certain amount of falloffs before it gets shredded etc.
Personally I wouldn't choose this colour scheme since I'm nowhere near having the skills, big ego or ambitions to match that image.
My Troy Lee Blais Jacket does the job for my personal needs in that respect. YMMV.

Does anyone know of a good tour guide/company which runs ADV style tours (bike) following some of the stages of the next Dakar?
I am seriously looking into this and have only found a 2 so far.

Not sure if this is the best place for posting, but with an event such as Dakar, what is the procedure of nominating your bike at time of entry, such that it may change later in the year?

With entries opening around 7 months before the event, is there any issue with changing the particulars (Marque; Model; Class etc) of the entry closer to the event?

Oh for those of you wanting to ship separately from Lima, be advised its a serious SERIOUS pain in the ass to get things through customs here. Two weeks minimum to 6 weeks is the norm.

Best place to start is to look at the Dakar.com website and spend a couple of days going through the rules; but to answer your question yes you can change things closer to the rally I believe. Whats most important is that whatever you bring to scruntineering passes the minimum FIM (read Dakar) standards.

I saw your questions on the Dakar bike thread, and my advice to you at this stage if you are considering the Dakar, it would be good for you to enter another long desert rally first to get familiar with all the procedures and little tricks. This is really not a rally to be starting on unless you are comfortable with throwing away USD80,000. Also youre not likely to be admitted without prior rally experience.

Funny that I'd swear about it after seeing a video of the latest Dakar where Peterhansel was carefully looking to the latest rally motorbikes
