Hey RatBob,

It's nice to see I'm not the only one to use the 'shield for a jacket rack.

I just picked this up a few days back. '99 w/50k miles and a host of farkles. That's rider57 checking it out, he had an '01 back when I was riding the ST1100, and we used to swap out on long rides to ease the pressure points.

I'm headed out on the 19th to see my sweetie, and we're gonna ride up to CADVR. Mebbe I'll see you there.

Hey Feo, nice looking bike. What seat is that? After the bars, the seat will be my next mod. Will have to make due with seat beads or an Alaskan Leather sheepskin pad I am borrowing from a friend until I scrape up some dough. I see some guys say the stock seat is the best stock seat they have ever owned. Maybe, but it still blows. Not enough room for me and I feel like I'm sitting on the tank.

That's a stock seat for the '99. You must have one of the early ones with the bench. I think they changed 'em in '94, but I'm not a Concours guru.

That seat, plus my old sheepskin (not a made seat cover, just a half pelt tied on with cheap elastic) will get a 3000 mile work out in the next few weeks. I'll let you know If I wind up modifying it any.

I do see some places it could be improved on cheaply, but losing some of my weight would probably be more effective.

Yeah, Feo, the shield makes a good hanger for a jacket or a one-piece Roadcrafter. I'm bummed, though. I've wanted to meet you and her both for quite a while, but I burned all of my vacation time on that trip, so I won't make it to CADVRIII. Unless I get laid off. Bonebag puts on a hella party, and there are lots of cool roads to ride. Lotsa good people, too.

Sorry to hear you can't make it, but not sorry to hear you're working.

I'm gonna be shifting my junkyard/dog pack/base of operations northward in the next year or so, so then da thumb won't be so far away.

Here's my new-to-me 05... Traded my 08 KLR705 straight across for her and am not missing the KLR a bit...
Just put 400 miles on her yesterday....

Stock except for handlebar risers, peg lowering kit, crash bars, heated grips, Givi trunk and cheap wal-mart driving lights....I have a couple of 4" HID lights that are going on there soon...

I call her "Big Sexy"
