Check out my new Frame brace kits for Airhead BMW's. You'll find weld-in kits for the builders and some slick sode braces for the riders. The parts are trick, they were designed and manufactured by the best in the business and the prices are reasonable! http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=543395 Heres you chance to kill the Rubber Cow! She isn't sold, yet. I'm not going to go any lower than the $6500. What would be the point? I need the money to fix up my boat for a long trip. If I'm not going to get enough for her to do that, then why sell her? Hell, I'll stay here in Kansas, turn the boat into an ADV camping spot in my yard, and become a truck driver if I want to travel. I've got too much time and money in her to give her away, and too many good memories to part her out. There are worse things than having a great bike in the middle of the country with miles of dirt roads and empty space in every direction.

I understand about wanting to fix up the boat. I remember passing little islands in the Bahamas when I was in the CG and seeing dozens of small sailboats pulled up to nameless islands. The people would spend as little as possible so they wouldn't have to work much. Seemed like a great life! I read piles of books written by live-aboards and surfed through iboats.com for months. I've dreamed of getting a sailboat and taking it to the caribbean ever since.
It's not an easy thing to do though. Cruising along on an old airhead and dreaming about sailing is nice way to spend some time too. Good luck either way!

Hell, we may have met! I spent 3 months sailing the Bahamas in the Winter of '95. It was fun to dive over the side, spear a couple of Lane Snappers, and fillet them for lunch. There was no need to get very many; had to have something to do that afternoon besides
. We were sailing up from Cat Island, after clearing in, towards Marsh Harbor, when you guys slipped in behind us in the dark with your lights off. We knew you were back there 'cause there was this black hole on the horizon; at least, we hoped it was you guys. After awhile, they called us on the VHF, took our personal data, and came back a few minutes later with wishes for us to have a safe voyage. But, I love the Coast Guard. Once, I was single-handing from Ft Myers to Pensacola before the advent of GPS and found myself on the beach of Santa Rosa Island at 0100 on a "dark and stormy night". I spent all night resetting the anchor to keep the bow into the waves. Had to do it naked because the rip currents almost got me when I dropped the anchor the first time; swimming in sweats is hard. You guys finally got there about noon the next day and snatched me and the boat right off the beach with a 41 footer. While being towed to P'cola, I kept falling asleep at the tiller. Thank God, it was a small (23ft) boat. Shoot, I even talked my fourth exwife into joining the CG. She/we were stationed up in Jonesport, Me back in '02-'03. Needless to say, she was much younger than I. Tom |
