The only reason I ask is that I have a T-45 and T-50, and neither seem to want to work...

I'd never noticed the tamper resistant torx. The dealer had the mounts on when I bought it.
Just took a look. My front mount is a T 40 torx. Does anyone know if the factory mount kit
comes with a hollow tip torx? Hate to say it but it does look like you can get a vice grip on
the head to loosen it and replace it with a regular allen or torx.

I started with the OEM. It's fine for street use. It moves around a lot off road.

I switched to a Wolfman with four straps so it should stay in place. The snow outside
makes it a little tuff to test out. I use one with similar mounts on the KLR and it never moves.
I also wanted the side pockets that the OEM did not have.

Also has a bag in front so you can really forget where you put stuff.

Luckily, I'm putting them on. So, I don't have to worry about trying to get a vice grip around the bolt. However, I do think you're right; I don't think someone would be able to get the bolt off with a set of vice grips, especially if any kinda' threadlock were used.

I found a post, on YST.com, that claims it's a T-45. However, I can't get my hollow T-45 to fit. So, I think I'll drive the bolt down to Sears, and roll the dice. I just figured I'd ask, in the event that someone fresh to the task found it to be a different size.

Pluric, I have no idea how I got on your radar. However, you can't keep makin' fun of DaFoole and I, if you keep postin' stuff like this...

Raven ownership puts anyone on the radar.

Take the bolt with you when you go to Sears.

That's what I posted that I was gonna' do. It's just that Sears wasn't open, at 01:00, when I was tinkerin' with the racks, in my garage.

Kinda like this http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/P...FcODQgodIxoARQ

Only done with the KLR mentality. I just used a couple peices of angle and some tube
stock to make the mount. Garmin GPS mount bolted to that.

Somewhere there is a post with more detail that maybe Dallara could find for you.

Techmount...

~

I went the quick and easy route to put my GPs in the same place and got a "Techmount" - http://www.techmounts.com/

Simple to install and adjust, and solid in operation. I use it as shown, with the short stalk, when I'm not using my tank bag, and I carry one of their longer stalks under the seat in a little plastic zip baggie with a couple of the appropriate allen wrenches. That way when I want to use my tank bag I just quickly mount up the longer stalk. Takes all of two minutes, max.

Just FYI...

Dallara

Thank you, BHK.

Yes, you are absolutely correct. Being the imbecile that I am, I thought I had a T-45 and T-50. As it turns-out, I had a T-45 and T-55.

It wouldn't be me unless I had everything, except what I actually needed. Story of my life.

Thanks again for the response.

On the contrary, I did that recently. But I don't think it's very likely to be done with the pannier mounted.

Does anyone think the security bolts are necessary? I don't think it would be very easy to remove the bolts with the panniers on and if the panniers are off, who'd bother?
