Pass on it. Vulnerable rear sump mount. Supports crush easy. Pretty flimsy. Replaced my OEM
alloy bash plate with an Altrider. Better mounting system. Still can bend it up without too much effort.

If you are looking for a stone deflector, it works fine. And it doesn't need to be removed for oil changes so it's quite convenient.

If you want something that can take hard hits, look for one that mounts to the frame instead of the sump.

Pluric I take it there are no problems with overloading the wiring with doing this. A local auto electrician in Aus I spoke to was a bit wary of this solution.

I kinda agree with you and I'm just a nail pound'r not an electrician or a mechanic.

If your popping the fuse because of something you are running you could set up another socket direct wired to the battery with a larger fuse for heavier loads. The original socket would still be handy for phone chargers or gps units.

I popped mine and put the 10 amp in. Mostly just run a USB for the ipod in it.
I've not heard of anyone who fried any wires running a 10 amp.

I did run a heavy duty wire with a BMW style plug direct off the battery for charging
and to run an inflater.

You can do what I did...

I removed the Cig lighter all together but use that pig tale to power my GPS. In its place I installed an SAE Bulkhead fitting, that's a fused connection directly to the battery.

This gives me a place to plug in the tender, or my compressor, I fused it to 15 amps.

The voltage is so low that water does not cause a problem. Besides, aside from the coils, the whole bike runs on 12v. The only problem with all of these is corrosion so make sure you use some silicon or similar.

Sidestand Switch Bypass

Does anyone know how to bypass the sidestand switch? After 76k miles, mine is getting a bit wonky (throwing error code 19). The problem is intermittent.
