Mine's just an 8983 double-clicker. I thought about the 8987 triple-clicker, but after extensive discussions with Nick, as well as being real honest with myself about how I was going to be using this bike, I decided the 8987 was real overkill. Besides, considering the limitations of what could be done with the forks it really just didn't make much sense to me to go with 8987.

And hell, if the 8987 was any better than the 8983 I've got I'm not so sure I could stand it!!!

But wouldn't the 8987 be safer?

I am glad to hear Penske nailed the high speed that well on the 83. When we developed the shock on my bike, I got the 87 to be able to dial in the high speed.

I do find myself adjusting the high speed every now and then, but it is mostly only when I DRASTICALLY change the load on the bike. I have also never been more than 2 clicks away from the factory preset (equivalent to the 83).

The High Speed Compression adjustment is really nice, but the price difference is not insignificant. When I bought the shock for my Speed Triple I went with an 83.

The suspension is the yellow or red curly thing (depending upon your sexuality) just in front of the rear wheel, right ?

And if you change its colour it gets better, yes ?

Oh, and I upgraded the battery on my GoPro and it is much safer. I think.

BTW, back to reality, broke another stainless spoke today and no spares left . 400 mile ride to get some more. Doh !

Sorry I missed replying to this yesterday, Andrew.

I guess Ray never saw my post saying I'd take it because I never heard from him and he didn't reply in the thread. Honestly, I had forgotten about it. I was only going to try and experiment with it, but if you're running a stock screen you need it more than I do. I just hope Ray still has it...

If he does just consider me as having stepped out of line for it, and hopefully you can get it from him.

And Ray, if you're reading this, Andrew needs your MRA flip!

I have some spare stockers, but I don't know how to get them to you. Where are you now?

Edit: Just checked your blog, crap I could have made it to Yellowstone in a long day. You're heading
North it looks like now. If you have a motel in mind I can next day air some spokes to you.

^^ I should have taken the time to Photoshop Pluric out of the photo.... but I'm lazy.

Point taken though, I love folks that quote someones ride report, complete with 45 attached photo's only to ask "What tires are those?"
