can you find a upholstery shop near by? heck my mom has only been doing uph. work for 27 years,

take the cover off, add the foam, take the stitching out of the side panels where they sew to the top, then use that as a pattern only add some for the new seat height, sew back on to top, then staple back on .

too bad this isn't a klr and I can't stack up a few of those walmart atv pads..

edit: just read this post, and had to throw in a "THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID" or a "that kind of bargain might have saved my marriage!" comment!
You can order it from this shop in Germany, would be about $450 shipped (vat is dropped in the checkout process).

Seth Laam can customize your stock seat for $250. Of course when you can't do a ride in fitting you're always taking a chance.

Did my own

Saddleman sells the raw Gel pads in different sizes. Peel back the cover, get out the electric carving knife and slice off a layer, place Gel and re-install cover. I used memory foam to fill in around the front. You could cover with a thin layer of regular foam just to hide the outline of the Gel pad. Works fine for me. Much better than stock. I also leveled the seat when I cut the foam so I did not need to cut up the bumpers underneath.

I rec'd my rebuilt seat from Laam seats yesterday. Seems more supportive. Quality product for sure.

Details? Higher, lower, wider, softer, firmer, etc, etc as compared to stock?

firmer, less flat, less balls going into tank... high quality, big recommendation... Now I haven't ridden it 10 hrs straight yet, but based on my experience with different seats, I expect this to be just fine.

Seth will interview you about what you are looking for, stats, type of riding... if you need it taller, he builds it taller...

I'm 6'5" with a 36" inseam. I fit just fine on mine. Only mod I have right now is some 1" risers. I would like to have the seat about 1" higher and some lower pegs but it isn't uncomfortable now by any means.

Considering an S10

Hey S10 riders, I'm currently on an 01 GS which I've had for a while and with 48K right now getting tired of the cost of maintenance and the few big things which are lurking like the final drive and the trans input shaft splines to mention. I stopped in my local Yamaha shop and rode a 2013 Tenere. Really impressed with it and know it would do the job just fine. Surprised that it didn't feel the weight of it. My GS is about the same but the S10 felt more nimble right away. Punchy engine felt nice, smooth shifting and really comfortable. Unfortunately the guy in the shop didn't seem to know shit about the bike. Nice guy but could have told me about any sport bike was totally clueless on the S10. So a few questions for you……
-The ABS is not switchable and brakes are linked but if you are on dirt and only hit the rear brake, will that not active the ABS so you can skid the tire?
-Looks like there was a sport mode and T mode? is that touring? Didn't detect much difference on the test ride.
-Are the factory side cases any good? Is it a plastic frame with metal panels?
-didn't feel lie there was enough wind protection, whats a good wider and maybe slightly taller windscreen?
-What are the best engine guards for these? easy of install, protection and ease to work on bike with them.
-Which skid plate is best.

Thanks for the help and may have an ex GS'r convert on your thread here soon.
