Another lost thread about something that might not ever happen. Should this be merged with the 690 adventure thread and the Long Way Up thread?
If we all close our eyes and click or Oxtar heels together maybe one of the big four from Japan will bring a big dirt bias adventure bike to the states.

Nope bubba gets another chrome barge that he can dawdle around his poker run with while looking like he's waiting for a gynecologist exam. When will this lunacy end?

Someone in another thread mentioned that MotoMorini only sold about 200 GranPasos last year. Maybe it's just not worth the investment.

I don't think Morini and Yamaha's sales can be compared.

In fact, 200 Granpasos seems a very good number to me, as the bike was introduced late 2008 and it comes from a little company that most of the people didn't even know about.

BTW Morini's employees are all women

Here's what I want from Yamaha Super Tenere 1200

17 rear / 21 front spoke wheels
FI Map selector (A: fuel economy, B:Power)
Max 225Kg WET
No non-sense plastics
Min 25L fuel tank
Ergonomic (I want to change the spark plugs without getting the engine out of the frame in the middle of nowhere)
2009 suspension technology
Shaft final drive
Standard equipment: bash plate, engine guards, hand guards, tall windshield
Powerful headlight
Strong rear frame to support heavy luggage and/or passengers.

Make it under 10.000E and I'll buy it the minute its out (or at least I'll apply for a loan)!

I would have to agree. The Gran Paso is an expensive bike and limited availability bike. (Although I really like it!!!) MM are smart as they are looking into what people want and are attempting to get active in the ADV market.

Yamaha has excellent network but poor insight into the Adventure class. I call it short sightedness. "Unable to see the forest for the trees." They have the tech, just not the foresight.

Big Dualie!

Yamaha, bring it on. Look at all the GSs and KTM Advs being sold in N.A. You Japanese are missing the boat. My new 08 GS1200 needs some Japanese competition! Get off your asses.
