Hey everyone, can't we all just respect one another a bit more. I understand hurt feelings and all, but here is the real issue:

"a bike that isn't due to ship for eight months."

This is what has all us Yanks on edge. We got a woody fur da bike and can't get no satisfaction (thank you rolling stones).

Surely it must be only 7 months now? (at least for those of us who got our order in within the first 24 hours!)

Whos willing to bet that the first shipment will be under 200 bikes? Im tempted to tell the dealer I'll pick up the crate and build it myself so I can ride it as soon as it arrives. Im going to wait til the middle of March to finance since you only have 180 days.

Bluhduh PDP Shipment & Delivery...

~

I'm just hoping that Yamaha USA handles the PDP shipment and delivery better than they did when I got my 2006 FJR1300...

I had my order in within the first couple of hours of order availability, just like I did with the order of my S-10, and the early ordered FJR's were supposed to be delivered in March. More than half of March passed and the bikes weren't even in the USA. Story was they were delayed because of the saddlebag supplier being late getting pieces to Yamaha. Bikes finally hit US shores nearly the last day of March, and then sat a few days before being shipped IIRC.

Mine finally hit my dealer about a week or so into April. I was there at the dealership when the freight company pulled in to deliver it, but then when the door opened to the truck the dealership staff was as horrified as I was, as there were two big punched and torn holes in the outer covering of the crate. Bike was unloaded and put on the ground, crate unskinned, and we found some idiot at the freight carrier had stabbed the crate with a fork lift. The bike wasn't damaged too bad... Only cosmetic items (fairing panel, engine cover, couple of other pieces), and they made good on it, but I had to ride it around about 6 weeks while I waited for Yamaha to produce enough spares to ship me replacement parts.

So I just hope that kind of thing doesn't happen on the S-10, and Yamaha gets the bikes to us in the month they say they will - May - instead of a month late!

Hell, they've got enough time, and the bikes have been produced now for Europe, South Africa, and Australia/New Zealand now for months. You'd think they could get 'em to US buyers early...

That's not a parts catalog, but just the USA sales brochure for the Super Tenere. The parts catalog is 65+ pages and shows every part of the motorcycle, internal or external.

Just FYI...

Owner's manual is available online, but the service manual is not. From what you say you are going to be doing with it , I'd recommend having the pages laminated for protection .

Most dealers have the brochures available now. Some even have posters to hand out...

As for the parts catalog, just check back a few pages in this thread to see the ongoing discussion about various ways of obtaining the parts book here in the USA. Here's a couple of links that describes the number of pages, etc. of the parts catalog, service manual, and owners manual along with showing some sample pages:

Of course, the ones described are European model documentation, though they are in English.

Link was provided by Old Git Ray (Thanks, Ray!)
