Awfully lot of stock being put in something here which is awfully sketchy. I don't see much about this concept that says production vehicle at all or even that a decision has been made to produce it. Instead, I see a $20K contract to one of the outside design studios to produce something to gauge interest at an upcoming show - nothing more.

Definitely sketchy.

The Super Tenere page on the Yamaha Europe web site suggests that this is a forthcoming product.

All we know is they are claiming it will have traction control, ABS and unified braking.

No mention of engine size.

What? No 2 wheel drive? At least unified braking, very important to have on dirt going bike. Sarcasm.

Not a big fan of unified breaking. Kind of pointless with ABS on the street and not especially helpful in the dirt. Right?

Anyone want to jump to its defense?

I was being sarcastic.
Big ass bikes would benefit from 2 wheel option in sand etc. Electric motor front hub. Whatever happened to that ohlins designed hydraulic pump in the front wheel ?

From YMUK directly

Its a concept which will make production - Yamaha Europe wont be at Milan show. YMUK will be at the UK bike show next month but no Super Ten (maybe the prototype mockup seen at Tokyo)
Bike WILL be available in the UK at somepoint in 2010. No news on engine yet.

Will post up any more snippets I hear of.

Good news its definately coming here within the next 12 months

I'll throw my hat in for wild speculation.

I wonder if they haven't finalized the power plant for the bike yet...

...around 750-900cc would be about right for this kind of bike right?

That clapped out chrome thing on the Yamaha site has too be some mock-up from the cruiser division. Throw a larger lump in a 660 type concept and they'll have a winner.

Touratech must be rubbing their hands

Yamaha Dealer!

In Alberta, said that the Tenere is not in 2010 line up for Canada. If we see it, it'll be 2011 or later.

i'm guessing those are close to the very same parts to be found in the production bike. can any guesstimate the engine size from those cyl? the stroke is the unkown.

i'm guessing the engine has been designed and built & it's currently being tested for a sometime in 2010 release which is soon.
