If I weren't in Physician Assistant school now I would have met you in Arkansas a few weeks ago (actually I would probably be in Afghanistan clearing IED's). We will link up at some point but you, your SWMBO, and your wahoos should come down for a visit.

As much free time as I have it will probably take me 6 weeks to break her in. Maybe you could help?

Do you know the cause of your GS problem? Was it pinging caused by bad fuel? IF so, in theory (going by Yamahas premium fuel recommendations) you have to be careful with the S10 as well.

Was the GS covered by warranty?

Even if equal on fuel recommendations there are plenty of other advantages of the S10 - let us know what you think!

Best value-for-money performance mod you can make to the Super Tenere - accelerator module !!!!!!!!!

Fact: Modern motorcycles run too lean during acceleration due to emission controls in Europe

The accelerator module has been hugely successful on the big BMWs over the past year. Impressive results for the KTM 990 have been recently posted here on WD

Now in conjunction with Linex Yamaha the accelerator module for the Tenere is being tested. Results: Better acceleration and performance with unconfirmed fuel savings (no long trip yet)

What does the accelerator module do? - it tells the engine management system that it is 20 deg colder than it really is. The management system riches up the fuel during acceleration only. Results - better, smoother power delivery. You dont have to twsit the throttle off, you change down sooner and therefore save fuel.

Best of all your engine also runs cooler therefore prolonging engine life.

Worst of all you ride along with the fan on 99% of the time so you will sound like this;

WHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

Just kidding. If the mod tells the engine it's running at say 60 when it's actually at 80 (20 degrees cooler per their ad) won't it have a negative effect on engine life? Running at normal temp but with the engine being "undercooled" because it thinks it's cooler, therefor less cooling => running hotter?

if it permanently runs 20C colder, I would agree, but they say "The management system riches up the fuel during acceleration only."

That's 2 things. The fuel gets richer during acceleration only, sure. But the engine management system has no "only during..." mode, or at least not in their ad.

It sounds interesting, would like to see some testresults on it though.
