Well,no. There's jerks on every brand. There's good BMW riders(I know many) and jerk BMW riders(I know some). Tenere's too,no doubt. Nasty grams(PMs) can come from anywhere. Sensitivity measured in megatonnes. We may be jerks too--subjectve,mostly. Some, anyway. I'm still looking for soft bags for the Tenere. Any help is greatly appreciated. From BMW guys too. Even.
Any new ways to haul extra gas???

Grow up. All of you. It's hard enough as it is to filter out all the info in this thread from the useless filler, without you guys and your stupid bullshit.

Have you considered it might just be friendly banter ?

Someone who obviously does not like the S10 comes on an S10 thread and disrespects the bike/enthusiasts must expect to get some back. He is after all being done for devilment.
No big deal and no one is seriously bothered. However, he, Rick West in this case, is intent on winding the S10ers up so he gets the banter back. There are only 3 S10 threads in this vast site and if we did the same on a KTM or BMW site we would get the same expected response - possibly a lot worse from the BMW brigade - (my previous bike was a BMW).
Its only a game to be played when bored.
AFAIK what we have not done is used the "wanker" icon or the "Shut the Fuck Up" one, or any other swear words as you have.

Could you be taking this too seriously ?

Too_Tall,

I hope that you will continue to post your thoughts on the Super Tenere, farkles and ride reports. I have learned a lot from the folks who have had their bikes for some time now and it has be both useful information and a way to maintain my sanity (what little I still have left!).

I second that. Just ignore our rubbish and stay with us. I will in return try (can't promise though) to stop feeding the trolls.

Narrowed between Hepco Becker Xplorers: http://www.amotostuff.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?

30L/40L

And Touratech Zega Pros:

38L/45L

Leaning to the Touratechs, just like the closure better, sizes are more in the range of what I'd like--if you're going to have this blister hanging off the side of your bike you might as well make the most of size without getting stoopid.

There is trick crap to hang off of either of them. I am ghey for little brackets and nylon straps.

I saw the Hepco Becker bags at the Indy dealer show in Feb and was impressed with them. Per feedback from amotostuff, their racks are symetrical for the XT1200Z, so it seems that one would have to use the same size bags on both sides. I was surprised and disappointed to hear that, as the ones they had on display on a GS1200 were asymetrical, so you would fit a larger bag on the non exhaust side. I suppose that a solution would be to use the quick release SW-Motech racks with HB adapters, as the SW-M racks for the XT1200Z are asymetrical.

My son likes the Nelson Rigg 850 bags on his WeeStrom and I think I'll try them on the new bike when it comes, along with a Givi or other locking top box. He found them on a sale for something like $90 and they've been pretty solid.

I constantly use the top box and it's where lockables go on my trips. Stuff like the electronics. The side cases just don't get used much, outside of the occasional trip, and then generally get clothes and such that I'm not so worried about. I sure can't justify $1300 side bags for my infrequent use.

Extra gas seems to come down to an expensive aux tank, Rotopax for about $50/gallon, or figuring out how to simply haul red plastic cans like is done in most of the world.

Don't know if you got your inspiration from here but if not, it should help you get an image of how that setup would look

I have an HB Xplorer topbox on my S10 (previously fitted to my old 660Tenere) and i like the size and asthetics but have broken a couple of the Lid hinge teeth without really trying and suspect a side case could crumple/split if subjected to the wieght of an S10 slapping it into the dirt/tarmac.
The construction is plastic bottom with alloy sheet sides rivited and glued on with a plastic rim , the lid is a mixture of alloy sheet and plastic rim /corners glued and rivited to gether. The plus side is they appear very light but mounting points issues /weaknesses aside I think the Yam OEM cases are stronger.

Hi guys, greetings from Italy

This mine just to show you the best panniers I've seen since now for our ST 1200 . You can mount them on the original Yamaha attacks

The manufacturer is an Italian Yamaha Dealer and they just make an agreement with Yamaha Europe related to the sales .

In the last page of this post of the Clubtenereitalia forum you can find the pictures (post 430)

That has got to be the best looking S10 I've seen aside from the WorldCrosser. Nice panniers too - I really like the cross brace - I would imagine that it would keep "flapping" down nicely.
