When I found out it was coming, I was all in. Still am, but just not this year. We'll see what shakes out next year. I still think it's the bike for me. So you guys that are getting yours after the long wait, be happy and have fun. Could be worse. You could have to wait another year like me!

Terrible news that you are having to pull the plug, and you're certainly taking it better than I would have!

On the other hand, maybe there is a bright side... Perhaps Yamaha will be selling a "World Crosser" model by then!

BTW, I just sent a PM to you, Chadx.

Oh man, sorry to hear you have to back out on the Super Tenere deal Chad! I know you've been looking forward to that for a long time.

Here are some more pics from our encounter with Nick Sanders in Lima during the MT1000 Part 2.

The Super Tenere (with my "real" adventure bike on the other side. ):

The cockpit was surprisingly un-cluttered considering the saddle time this guy has been putting in.

Hmmmm, suspicious. Reliable shaft drive, eh? Sounds familiar...

Me and the champ!

He seems like a great guy, we had an interesting conversation while he was woofing down a steak. He said he wasn't having very much fun and that he'd really like to tag along with us! His plans were to ride through the night, and probably the next, and the next... A truly random/fun motorcycle encounter!

Nicks really old-school eh? Sure, there's a controller there for heated gear, and a SPOT, but they are held on by pieces of sliced-up innertube. AND NO GPS! But there is a map stuck in the dash, so that's ok then... Honestly, I can't imagine making that kind of mileage every day without a GPS telling me where to go.

Also no heated grips?

At least he's being careful with the paintwork, using tires for protection

Chadx,

How much are you short? Maybe we can get everyone to pitch in a few bucks to help you out. I would throw into the pot for you to be able to get your Super Tenere. If you think this is a possibility, I will start a new thread for it.

Now that's a great idea!

I'm in, especially after all the work, help, etc. Chadx has provided for the HDB group buys, etc.

Cmon!! It hasn't burst into flames or snapped in half yet. It's still turning.

That's YAMAHA's way of stopping the spokes corroding. It's a feature!

If I had the time i'd whip over to the boxers forum and collect some better excuses.

YAMAHA must be using German seals. eh?

I'd tip in a few to help out Chadx get a bike. Can we start a fund? His bike will likely be Helena this coming Tuesday.

I saw some place in the forum if the the wheel is not removed and replaced properly when changing a tire and such this can happen?

Hey guys, not all of us have been paying proper attention (eh GrahamD? - surprised at you ).

If you've been following Nick's story you'll remember a report from the Lovely Caroline that Nick suffered an oil leak in the rear drive just before Ushuaia. This was caused by a stray strap getting wrapped around the rear wheel somehow. Apparently a mechanic in Ushuaia "fixed" it, but probably didn't have the right knowledge/tools/parts and just did the best he could. My guess is that the leak you see here is just a recurrence of that. I don't think you can call it a bike failure at this point.

Trevor

Au contraire monsieur Trevor, Tis such a well known fact amongst the Nick-erati, that a strap done it, that I assumed that everyone knew it was a joke.
