First we had the guys that got the ECU flash, wait for the snow to melt, now we have to wait on a front wheel. Oh, the suspense of it! The Explorer is gonna be here soon.

![]() The decal is hand made. A copy from the Wordcrosser one. I don’t like the plastic cover and with the decal it looks a bit “lighter”. Wasp, you’re my inspiration!, your thread is the bible of the S10.. I’m waiting for your test with the 21” front wheel... ![]() Does anybody knows where I can find a foldable shift lever? The OEM one looks easy to bend. Thanks!

I am a bit concerned about the 21" wheel option upsetting the ABS/TCS.
Does any one have any experience of this ? |

I'm also of the opinion that the 21'' wheel will mess with the ABS/TCS. I almost bet that the ABS will start to kick earlier on the front wheel and the TCS on the back. This is because the bigger front wheel will roll slower, making the speed differential between front/back to be always closer to the intervention parameter.
Then there are the other two possibilities: -this difference will be two small to notice; or -the sistem has actually the capacity to learn what is the normal rolling speed differential between the two wheels. Lets wait to see |

I think the original 21" wheel beta testers are going without/ABS and TC. I have a feeling since the ABS and TC is based on math formulas, that the wheel size will not make a difference, but they will require the OEM hubs to be used in the lace up.
This bike is evolving at a rapid pace, and putting a strain on my CC just watching these guys/girls!

A basic ABS sistem compares the wheel speeds between the two wheels. It knows that, due to different diameters, the front/rear wheel speed will be (lets imagine) a 1:1,35 ratio, no matter what speed. If braking properly, that ratio will be kept. If, during that, one of the wheels blocks, that ratio will change. Lets imagine, the front wheel starts to block, so the ratio becomes 0,5:1,35. This way it lessens the braking force on the front wheel. We all know that the S10's ABS is a lot more advanced and smarter than a basic sistem. But I bet that it still needs to know how's a wheel behaving comparing to the other, and for that it needs to know the normal ratio of rotational speed (which a 21'' front wheel will change). Unless, like said, the algorithm somehow "learns" what the normal ratio between wheels is, and uses that in it's calculus |

You are talking generic ABS, Yamaha has a patent for this system, so different than any others out there previously. We will wait and see, I do not know the algorithm this system is based on, just that it is not the normal plug in type that does not work with wheel size changes.
