I started fiddling around with the "funky type" finger picking. plonk plonk etc.

Liked it. Started listening a little harder to the bass in the background and just got more and more interested.

I foresee some new callouses.

Here is one for all the lovers of acoustic instruments : Luthier Peter De Smet (Holland) building a flat top steel string guitar.

http://youtu.be/EQVfok8LrLA

(sorry, no embedding according to youtube).

A good friend of mine has an archtop built by him :

This picture was taken just after it was built, which is now over 10 years ago. The guitar has changed colour to a lovely almost-golden colour. It is finished with the utmost attention to detail.
Carved top and bottom, ebony tailpiece and pickguard, ebony bridge, floating Benedetto Pickup (not on the picture) attached to the pickguard, ebony fretboard.

I know what you mean - I just started playing bass and it's a whole different feel. Fun to learn how to keep it from buzzing while developing a whole lot more left hand strength. Got mine set up by a local session musician who is also a luthier. Boy, it sounds a lot better when he is playing it than when I am.

Good luck - it looks nice.

They aren't supposed to rattle?

I'm having more trouble with the wildly different scale length right now. Holy shit the 2nd and 5th frets are wayyyyyyyyy the hell apart

Larriveé L03 Bubinga

Seagull S6 Original

Seagull S12 Coastline

That video was awesome. I like seeing craftsmen at work, and the specialized tools they use. Makes me want to go build stuff in the garage.

I picked up a Vox AD30VT today. I like playing with all of the built in effects and models.

It did however crush my latent dream of ever building one myself. I went from 'how hard can it be' to 'holy crap this is difficult!'
