I just picked this up for my 13 year old son. It's a 2004 Epiphone Sobe Les Paul "Van Halen". From what I gather there were 500 made.

The thin waist at the nut, along with the 17 degree pitch of the Gibson headstock are two of the reasons the headstock pops off when looked at.
Norlin era guitars didn't have the problem, as much, the neck volute as well as three piece necks, made of maple, seemed to do the trick to avoid the issue. |
