Seems like it's a great time to get a Gibson as many stores are closing out their 2012's..

Nice amp! I'd love an point-to-point wired all tube Marshall but they're so expensive. Have you looked at an 18w Marshall Clone? You can buy them as kits or complete. They're a lot cheaper and I believe are a bit more true to the original.

I'm guessing that goldtop has a baseball bat neck. Correct?

I suppose I could just stick a Marshall script on the cabinet and tell everyone it's the real deal. Who'd know?

Me.

Well are you looking to buy a name or a sound?

Sure do like the way the authentic one sounds.
Cost isn't really an issue either.

For a little amp I really like my VOX ac4tv.....I have actually found it a bit loud at home.

I have a few others a Roland cube (I think it is the most under rated SS amp out there) for what it is, that is a very nice amp. I also have a line 6 spider iv 75, that thing is really too big, but I like the different things I can do with it....but truth be known I really play on the vox or the roland.

Fender Rumble 150 Bass amp

Peavey TransTube 258 EFX, Mesa Boogie DC5, Pignose, Vintage 1953 Gibson GA 50T

How clean can the VOX get?

Very....I would say that 99.9% of what I play is clean...I am currently working on the theme from The Sting....that is more my style than AC/DC or something.

Now don't laugh but I also looked pretty hard at the Bugera V5...liked it quite a bit, but some reviews scarred me away due to quality control issues....but the one in the store did sound pretty darn good...and for around $100 I may give one a try.

I would also say that the vox has held up pretty darn well....In the nice weather I take it out on the porch and play....it gets moved around quite a bit and I have never had a problem...heck the dog has even knocked it over on the porch...can't say enough good things about it.

Full list for Sam Ash's Gibson closeout sales. I wonder if you can get and additional 10-15% off on these.
