You're either playing too much or not enough.

I'm the same way unfortunately. I got my first guitar in 1996.

Neither. It's a knock-off. Best quality, sounding, playing, guitar I've owned.

I started playing after I had surgery for a broke disc in my neck...lost all feeling in my left hand. I started for two reasons....I wanted to learn how to play and I needed to learn how to move my fingers again.
After I started I could not feel in my fingers and I would play till they would start to bleed....had to stop for a few weeks for them to heal up....then I had to watch my fingers to make sure it did not happen again.

For Christmas, my son gave me one of his guitars, a Cort Stratocaster clone, and a copy of Rocksmith for the Xbox. So far this guitar playing thing is waaaaay harder than it looks! Hats off to you to that can make noises with the thing that are actually pleasing to the ear!

I am still a beginner but the rocksmith really kicked my butt.. I did notice that switching guitars confused it, even after tuning it.
I considered giving it a try again yesterday but it was too nice outside to be on the xbox. I guess I'm old.

After some recommendations here, that's what we got our son for Christmas too. Impressive little unit! He loves the sound!

What's the consensus on Rocksmith? I've heard some good reviews....from gamers. I bought Guitar Hero and one fo those plastic guitars back when everyone I knew was ranting about how fun it was, and after watching a bunch of adults play it at a party one night. But I hated it.
Looks like Rocksmith is either discontinued, or simply hard to find. Most online retailers are sold out...is it worth tracking one down?

My calluses peeled off for the first time in years last week.
Fucking awesome. I just need to get my hand/wrists strength back up and I can start practicing for real. Right now playing at a moderate pace is just killing my forearms. Oh well, that is what I get for only tinkering with the acoustic for like 8 years. |
