I made my trek from mcallen to fresnillo today. I saw pirate john on his BMW on exp 83 and 23rd street in mcallen. He was heading east and i was heading west.

Everything was smooth. I wasnt stopped once. Military passed me through, garita passed me through, the federales passed me through. Everything was nice. Got stuck in about 30-40 miles of rain, and 80 miles total of wet road. Everything was pretty smooth. Saltillo is under major reconstruction to really dress the place up and make a highway right through. Its going to be real nice.

The MexTrek Boys

So far in the Galeana general area, all Milton and Richard are finding is that they are getting exhausted riding 12 hour days and discovering new trails/towns and the general age-old patina that is Mexico.

12 hour days in the dirt back to back is more than I would care to take on. I rode a single 12 hour day (about 8 hours dirt) on Friday and by 2:30 I was dead meat barely hanging on to the bars for the last 40 miles. I felt like Gumby by time I hit the pavement for the last 2 hour ride home.

Apparently Mexico IS Unsafe (for C.A. immigrants, that is)

Since Mexico's President Calderon has taken it upon himself to criticize
Arizona's new illegal immigrant law some Mexicans have sought to shine
a little light on Mexico's illegal immigrant laws (and conduct).

I'm not taking a stand here on Arizona's new law - just pointing out a
little inconsistency in Calderon's position.

Well in the mean time, and since I can not go to the MexTrek, I think I will do some other recon on Huasteca Potosina soon.

just for the sake of my dusty bike. Not for me.

The article is interesting, because it points out that Mexico has actually reduced the penalty for being an illegal immigrant from a maximum of 10 years in the klink to a maximum fine of $461.

The article also points out that Mexico actually has a federal organization - Grupo Beta - that drives around, looking for migrants that need help. And that the guv'mint has looked the other way as aid groups help the migrants.

You're right. It does speak to the recent changes in Mexican law that are
good, IMO, but the laws are still too much like Az's for Calderón to come
here and snipe the way he did. Especially the way Mexican leaders get their
back up when the US criticizes their laws/policies. You know: the pot....
the kettle....the color black....all that.

The good I see coming out of Calderón's hypocrisy is how he has armed
human rights groups to push for more change in Mexico. In the meantime he
would be better served by shutting his pie hole about Arizona while he re-
forms Mexico's laws.

Just sayin'........

I saw "THE ONE AND ONLY" Lakers team play when I lived in L.A. Starting lineup: Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, Elgin Baylor, Happy Hairston, and Gail Goodrich. No team will ever be as good as that!

Re: Suns vs. Lakers.

How 'bout that Nash playing with a broken nose!

And did you see the layup his replacement made?

Wouldn't be safe in Mexico.
