Back to the weather, so far nothing of important damage that I know that can threat your ride.
Just be careful when crossing Monterrey City and or Cd Victoria area, due roads possibly damaged by the water flow.
Indeed, my sig line does come from this poem. You win the prize, having noticed it first, so I buy the first and the last rounds if we ever meet up. I started with the first line a year ago, and I moved onto the the second--looks like I need to continue with the third line for my new signature. A college literature professor had us memorize this poem and recite it to him as a final exit requirement...have never forgotten the poem...nor the professor.

Thanks for the storm related tips these last few posts...we leave Sunday the 4th, but my buddy has the itinerary so I'll have him look at these posts and we'll check before we go.

Marti's poems are very good, I recall that we were forced by a teacher to read an entire little book of Marti poems back in junior high. But after that, my perception about poetry changed a lot.

Have a safe ride and be ready for those cold beverages first round !!

Go get yourself a botella de vino tinto and give you-know-who a call. You can hang with her in front of her fireplace, practice your spanish and your massage techniques. That's best done when it's raining anyway.

No, not Salma. I'm guessing blond, blue eyes, red sweater... That poor woman is going to regret ever talking to you...

That will change when Stephen puts that big honkin diamond on her finger.

I've already had a big gold chain with "SR" (something like Snoop Dog would wear) made as a wedding gift for her.

I had an interesting experience yesterday. No photos ... and under the circumstances I wish that I had taken some.

A friend of a friend asked me to pick up his "girlfriend" and her friend at the Reynosa Airport. No problem-o.

First of all, the plane from Veracruz was several hours delayed. And the airport was interesting - neat and clean, but much smaller than I expected it to be. There were only three incoming flights that morning that I could see. Security was provided by one Federale in the parking lot, although while I was hanging around two trucksloads (and these are BIG trucks) of Mexican Marines took a tour of the parking lot.

There is a dead (no engines) DC-3 in the tall grass and behind a fence at the terminal, adding the appropriate developing nation look to the place.

Anyway, I got there at 10AM, retired to the Centro for a few hours for lunch and to watch soccer, and then went back to the airport.

The plane arrives and the ladies show up. Gosh are they cute. "Dancer quality" is what is going through my mind. And neither one of them speaks a word of English as far as I can tell.

So I drive them back to the US border. The not-so-friendly Border Patrol guy doesn't buy my story that I am doing this as a favor for an unseen friend of friend, and after giving me a stern warning that as the owner of the vehicle I am responsible for anything from potential smuggling to nuclear war, directs me to the secondary inspection area. WHERE THEY PROCEEDED TO X-RAY MY TRUCK!

Sheesh.

Anyway, the girls had the proper documentation and were allowed into the States. I dropped them off at an executive jet facility at the McAllen Airport, where I did meet the guy that was the "friend of a friend."

Nice folks all around, and what I heard was that they were on the way to Vegas via a private plane. Why they didn't want to fly into Mexico to pick the ladies up, or why the ladies didn't fly directly to the States I don't quite understand (and am almost afraid to ask) but I suspect that it's good old fashioned economics.
