Was over in N. Progreso yesterday. The local transitos had a road block set up on the southern (non-tourist) side of town. I came cruising along and they smiled and waved me around (Florida-plated Land Rover sorta stands out I guess). Ran out of ca$h at the Spot Bar and there is only one ATM in town so they told me to just pay the balance on the next bucket of Indios when I visited them the next time.

All and all life's not too tough. Progreso may not be seriously interior Mexico, but it amazes me that so many here in the Valley are afraid to go to N. Progreso yet the troubles have almost completely bypassed the little town.

Don't know how you spell it, but I know that it's treated with dollar bill$

We ran into some other Winter Texans that we knew, and were surprised they were back in the Valley considering how hot it is right now and they were over in California somewhere last we heard.

Long story short more and more Winter Texans are finding that their investment and pension funds are compromised these days, and we are all struggling. From what I have seen Progreso is adjusting to the new realities.

And for whatever reasons the troubles have conveniently bypassed the town. Not so much with Matamoros (where there was a big shootup a few days ago), or Rio Bravo or Reynosa, which surround Progreso (Rio Bravo provides services like cops and garbage collection to Progreso), but things seem to be calming down in Reynosa and Rio Bravo at the moment by and large.

Tom Hanks and the Weather Girl

.

That's right. Because it involved a Mexican Weather Girl, Hanks didn't care about the actual weather either
