Peso has lost 20% to the dollar! That means BMW will now be changing their prices 50%.

I have often wondered if there isn't some sort of media campaign for just that reason - to help out the US tourist business. However, I have to say that if there is anything organized I have never seen the memo. In other words, no smoking gun.

At the risk of making a political comment that is out of place here I do think that there is a policy at certain Murdock-owned media institutions to discourage tourism to Mexico and you hear many of the followers of those shows parroting those lines. That, and the feeling in some circles that the USA is a glowing wonder on the planet that cannot be equaled or bettered in any other way by any other nation and to imply that another nation has any other positive qualities is to be unpatriotic.

The only American media tactic is: Their Own Interests.

When the subject is The Media remember the catch phrase "Drama Sells"....a la the very famous "If it bleeds, it leads"

American media doesn't care for the US tourist business anymore than it cares for your retirement plan. They're out for their own rice bowl just like any other and every other blood sucking corporate leach you can name.

There....I feel better

Durango, Mexico, and Durango, Colorado, are not pronounced the same.

Durango, Colorado is like "DuR-RANG-go"

Durango, Mexico is more like "Du-RON-go" (this is the best I can do here)

You're welcome

I'll explain the later

This is the only clue so far (that I can find)

Curious that there hasn't been any further update after "reaching Reynosa"

I though we (gringos) were supposed to say it with a gringo accent.

How do you say "Nicaragua"? (nee-cow-RRRAH-gwah)

I think Fox is by far the most fair and balanced new available. But, I am not talking about the Talk Show formats, that is not news. I do agree that Mexico gets more than its fair share of news coverage and I believe it is politically motivated, but not for the same reason as you. Have you noticed how little coverage is now given to our troops being killed since the White House changed? It is my opinion that the left wing media used troop killing to bash Bush and the war effort, now that Obama is President, troops deaths are given a glossing over and they move on. I think Mexico has been used to fill this void. But of course, the Drug Cartels and the police/politician corruption in Mexico is providing much material. But again, notice how much media is now given when one of our guys gets killed. Before, they almost continued re-reporting one death till the next one happened. There is one other factor and it is not the fault of the media. As Tricepilot already stated, we like to hear about blood and gore!
