Spent a few weeks in Mexico traveling from Laredo to Puerto Vallarta, crossing Monterrey, Guadalajara and tons of other towns in between. No problems what so ever.

Just missed 2 GS Adventure bikes at Lone Star Cycle. Put a deposit down on a red one that's on a boat right now headed this way. Hope to have at least a full week to do some basic farkling and make the 1000 mile service point before heading south Nov 22nd.

Gonna have to make the trip on the stock seat. Oof!!

police vaje in Acapulco

Hi guys,

just want to share with you my little adventures in Acapulco and to be very aware of it. I drove trough Acapulco and was stopped twice by the policia vaje, or something like that. Both times on not true violations but they made very sure that I would pay them some money before they let me go. And I did, I didn't feel like pushing it too high and spending a lot of time in the heat. They use the trick that you have to pay at the police station, but that is closed for the day, so they will take your license and then you pay tomorrow at the station, or, you pay now on the spot. No ticket no problem.

So, either pay, or go to the police station and see what happens there. If I had more time, I would have done that. For the rest, all is good in Mexico, no problems, only one day left

Thanks for reminding me that I need to get an additional copy of my driver's license before I head south. The one I leave with the transitos so I can be on my way.

Some riders are recommending going around Acapulco at this time. Thanks for posting your experience.

I would guess that its your first time in Mexico? Dont pay anything, just wait them out. The most time it could take is about 30 minutes, and thats if you really fucked up, which is unlikely. Bienvenidos a México!

BTW, the only legal way to pay a ticket in Mexico is to go to the police station and pay it. If they tell you the police station is closed and they want to take your license, just give them one of your false licenses or better yet, a disposable international license. Dont pay the cops, ever if you can help it.
